Monday means Beit Midrash: will you try it out?

Building a new habit of participation is not easy, but beit midrash is well worth the effort. Beit midrash is a place to take charge of your Jewish learning and address the yearning for a deeper relationship with Jewish text.

We begin each week at 6 pm with a light dinner, usually soup and salad (for a modest donation). After the food, we have a shiur (lesson) about a relevant topic and then move to small group study.  When we have more than one study
group, I circulate and work with each group.

Come dip your toe in the living water, mayim chayim! For more information or to ask questions, please contact Laurie.

Linguistics Rides Hard at the State Fair!
Har Shalom friend Professor Leora Bar-El writes:

Hi all!
We will be setting up a booth at the Western Montana Fair this week to collect some data for our Dialect Variation in Montana project! Folks who drop by can take a survey on language use in Montana, learn more about our study, and chat about language variation!

Anyone 18 or older can participate in our surveys. We are particularly interested in having folks who have grown up in Montana also do some short audio recordings.

We will be at our booth on Wednesday and likely Saturday, and possibly another day in between, depending on how things go. Our booth can be found near the Russell Street entrance. Admission to the Fair is FREE EVERY DAY! http://www.missoulafairgrounds.com/western-montana-fair/

If you want further info on our Fair schedule, send me an e-mail at leora.bar-el@umontana.edu

See you at the Fair !

Coming up at Har Shalom
From Kyra Schuster, Curator
United States Holocaust Memorial Museum

We're halfway through our Kickstarter campaign to Save Their Stories: cataloging and publishing online more than 200 diaries of Holocaust victims and survivors.  I've seen your heartfelt comments, tweets, and posts about our project, and I'm so inspired by the outpouring of support we've received already-so far over 3,396 people have come together to make sure these important accounts of the Holocaust are brought to the public.  But this is all or nothing-if we don't meet our goal, we don't get any funding at all. And there are just two weeks left!

Check out the project page for more details about the meaningful difference you'll make-and the rewards available exclusively to project backers. Some of these have run out already, so don't delay!

I hope you'll join us and help Save Their Stories today.
