Digestive Health Monthly - August 2017

Gastroparesis, like many chronic gastrointestinal (GI) disorders, is a long-term condition that can significantly impair the quality of life and well-being of those affected. It touches not only those suffering with the condition but also friends, family members, and caregivers. It affects relationships in the classroom, in the workplace, and social interactions.

August is Gastroparesis Awareness Month. During this month we recognize the burden gastroparesis poses on those affected and the need for research into new and better treatments. By working together as a community, we can promote global awareness and pave the way towards treatments and cures.
Survey Reveals Unmet Needs of People with Gastroparesis
Awareness of gastroparesis critical to improving health for patients

This August, IFFGD highlights results of a research survey of people with gastroparesis published by IFFGD together with researchers from Temple University School of Medicine. Findings of the survey show that general health as well as social function are decreased in people with the condition and treatments that target not only symptoms, but quality of life issues are needed.
