ERIE COMMUNITY credit union TRANSFORMS BRANCH OPERATIONS WITH HELP OF cummins allison

JANUARY 11, 2017, Mt. Prospect, IL - Cummins Allison , the leading innovator and provider of coin, currency and check processing technology as well as ATMs, today announced that Erie Community Credit Union, located in Erie, Pennsylvania, has added ATMs and self-service coin machines from Cummins Allison to transform branch operations and better serve members.

"We're in the midst of a transformation in order to modernize both our core system and physical branch locations to better serve members' needs," said Brian Palotas, chief operating officer, Erie Community Credit Union. "It is important that I got the best deal without sacrificing product quality from my equipment. That's what I got from Cummins Allison," he said.

A critical aspect of member service
Erie Community Credit Union's largest customer, Erie Insurance was in need of a coin machine to support their employees who bring in spare change for one of its largest fund-raising initiatives.   After research, the Money Machine ® 2 self-service coin counter was selected.

"The final decision actually came down to the user-friendliness. Ongoing maintenance issues with previous machines, such as replacing the coin collection bags, were difficult to handle. The Cummins Allison self-service coin counters are very simple for our staff to operate and manage," said Palotas.

"Offering self-service coin-counting machines at all of our branches is important to us because of the clientele we serve," said Palotas. "Credit unions are about serving the underbanked and that means giving them all the avenues that they need to succeed financially. If their only means of saving money is a coffee can full of loose, change why would I want to deny them that service?"

Expanding services with new ATMs
Based on their positive experience with the self-service coin counters and level of service, Erie Community Credit Union selected a full service drive-up and dispense-only model  ATM to expand service to its members. In addition to the traditional ATM services, the H34ND ATM in use at the Erie Insurance private branch also sells stamps - a service that has been met with great excitement by Erie Insurance employees.

"Credit unions need technologies that enable a superior member experience and we are committed to providing the highest quality products and services to support how credit unions handle transactions in the branch," said Bob Gibson, vice president, branch operations, Cummins Allison.
