New Mexico 811 Goes Live with Geocall Software
|
New Mexico 811 went live in January with Texas811 and Progressive Partnering's proprietary GeoCall software.
NM811 was formed in April of 1990 through the consolidation of several one call centers in that state. By 1991 NM811 was providing one call coverage for all 33 New Mexico counties.
Texas811 currently handles New Mexico's after hours and overflow calls.

January was a busy start to what's going to be a very busy year for Texas811. Coming up this year are the Texas811 Damage Prevention Summit in February, the 19th Annual Texas811 Charity Golf Tournament in April and the International Locate Rodeo being hosted by Texas811 in June.
Here are some of the highlights of what we did and where we were.
Sincerely,
Mike Losawyer
President, Texas811

The Texas811 Swag'n is arguably one of the most famous 811 outreach items in the one call industry. The combination food and swag trailer logs around 12,000 miles each year traveling to Texas811 member events and to charity and community events.
The original Swag'n was vandalized in August of 2015. Afterward, when it was being taken to be repaired - the axle broke and the frame bent. The insurer totaled it out, and we took possession of a new 2015 model. The new Swag'n is the same size, but has a few different tweaks. For one thing, the griddle is larger - 36" as opposed to 24". There are also food warmers installed.
The Swag'n is now run by David Medina - the son of Texas811 Damage Prevention Manager Jaime Medina - and David is truly a chef by trade.
You can expect some stellar meals and treats to be
heading your way the next time it pulls into your parking lot. Some items he's been floating about include Blackened Shrimp Martinis, Tropical Salmon, Rubens, Braised Pork Tacos and many more.
For you long-time Swag'n fans, don't worry - the Texas811 snow cones will still be in stock as menus and situations call for them!

In cooperation with the Texas Legends basketball team,
Texas811 presented "The Turning Point" night on Friday, January 15. The home game between the Legends and the Santa Cruz Warriors benefited Texas811's charity cause, The Turning Point (
www.theturningpoint.org) a sexual violence crisis center in North Texas.
Legends players wore specially designed game jerseys featuring both the Texas811 and Turning Point logos.
Texas811 President Mike Losawyer
and Turning Point director Wendy Hannah were both interviewed prior to the game for television, and both non-profits had featured videos running at the halftime mark of the game.

CPS Energy Event in San Antonio
Texas811 joined CPS Energy in San Antonio for Excavator
Safety Day on January 13. The event was open to excavators, first responders, public officials and pipeline operators.
Attendees witnessed mock gas and electric hit line demonstrations and found out what to do when utility lines are damaged.
The new Texas811 Swag'n made the road trip as well, adding good food to the fun and prizes handed out.
