August 2016 Newsletter
Mike's Message
The year is officially halfway over!
As I write this, it's August, and we're preparing for National 811 day soon.  We're heading back to the ballpark with the Texas Rangers, we're on the diamond with the San Antonio Missions, we're participating in a major Houston block party, and I'm even going to be on TV - and we're back on the side of the Dallas Omni Hotel again. We'll of course have the full recap on that in our next newsletter.
BUT -
Before we get there, we have a LOT of things to share with you.

Enjoy the news, and until next time, safe digging!

Sincerely,

Mike Losawyer
President, Texas811
Best Places to Work

What better way to start the month than to announce that  Texas811 is listed in  Dallas Business Journal's Best Places To Work 2016.
Over 460 workplaces were nominated to make the list, and Texas811 broke in on its first ever nomination. This is the 14th year that the Dallas Business Journal has provided this list. The official category rankings for the 2016 Best Places to Work will be revealed at a luncheon on September 15 at The Fairmount Dallas.

It's not the first time Texas811 has been featured in the Dallas Business Journal. Company president Mike Losawyer did an interview with the DBJ earlier this year.
Pipeline Damage Prevention Training

Want to provide your employees with this valuable training?  Texas811 and PEC can help.
PEC Safety is an industry leading safety company providing standardized safety and skills training and an online technology platform for reporting and measuring safety information from contractor to operator.  Over 750,000 workers have been trained to date since inception of the company in 1993. PEC knows the value of the 811 system - they were a bronze sponsor of the recent Eagle Ford Safety and Equipment Rodeo Round-up in Gonzales, Texas on April 22, 2016!
Upcoming classes are scheduled for September 2, October 12 and November 1.

Texas811/Enertech

The partnership between Texas811 and Enertech is continuing to pay big dividends. The Mock Line Strike and Pipeline Response events are proving very popular with utilities and emergency responders.
The scenarios graphically illustrate what happens when procedures aren't followed on the job site - starting with ignoring the call to 811.
Here's a news story from the local CBS affiliate on a recent event in West Monroe, Louisiana, and another story from Midland, Texas from the Midland Reporter-Telegram newspaper.

Are you keeping up with our Facebook page?   Social media whiz Greggory Covington is loading up our page with lots of fresh information, and we're also adding more videos from videographer Jason Crocker We held a fun event in house to choose who would throw out the first ball at our Texas Rangers 811 day game - Click here to see what happened

Look for more fun in the coming days - and also some really cool contests coming your way that can only be found on our Facebook page! If you haven't, go there and like us!

Texas811's Spanish drive continues to bear fruit.   For July, we received 2053 calls in Spanish. That means callers spoke directly with a Spanish speaker in our call center. We never outsource our bi-lingual calls.

Wherever you find good food - it seems you'll find the Texas811 Swag'n!   Chef and Wagon Hoss David Medina took the Swag'n to the Peach Festival at Weatherford Texas. If you've never been - it's everything peach, from ice cream to salsa. You can read more about the festival itself here.
That puts a wrap on this month's newsletter. If you've got an event coming up that we should give a shout out for, send an email.

Until next time, dig safe!

Sincerely,

Texas811
