Earlier today it was announced on various news outlets that Mars' Incorporated, the owner of Banfield purchased VCA (including Antech, and Camp Bow Wow boarding facilities) for approximately 9.9 billion dollars.
Mark Hafen estimates "t
ogether with the 950 Banfield hospitals they already own, this gives Mars control of more than 1,700 hospitals, or approximately 20 percent of the veterinary market. The purchase of VCA will also give Mars control of Antech labs and Camp Bow Wow boarding facilities. "
