Success Story - Cormack, NL

" Our Teen Challenge [program] was conducted over four weeks and consisted of three after school programs and one weekend program [per week]. We introduced our youth to a variety of field and court sports, describing the field and court layouts using videos and slides, discussing the rules of play and then trying out the sports by bringing them to the field/court for fun practices. The sports reviewed were: ultimate disc, singles & doubles tennis, soccer, basketball, and softball. During the program we noted a bit of interest and willingness to learn which was followed up with youth organizing the games themselves after the program was over. Of course the outdoor playing season has ended but we intend to carry this method forward again in the spring to refresh them on these games. Their knowledge of a variety of sports can be passed along to pre-teens at regular after school programs and summer camps."
