Welcome Marci Corbin
Please join us in welcoming Marci Corbin, our new Family Experience Coordinator! Marci comes to us from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society where she was the Programs and Services Manager and Interim Program Director. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from DePauw University and a Master of Arts in Community/Agency Counseling from Bradley University. Marci's focus is on enhancing our families' experience while staying at the House. This includes coordinating activities and working with our meal groups, among other projects. Marci will also be helping us make sure our families receive consistent information by holding houseguest meetings, creating a weekly bulletin and meeting with families as they are checking into our Limestone Street location. By doing this, she will become an additional resource for our families when it comes to caring for their child as they prepare to go home. |
Changes in Check-In Process at Limestone
Starting in January, Guest Services Volunteers (GSVs) will be partnering with Marci Corbin or the Manager on Duty when checking in a family. GSVs will still meet and greet incoming families, gather their room keys and parking pass, copy their driver's license, provide the tour and help the families settle in. Marci or the Manager on Duty will work with the families to collect the necessary information for the registration card and fill out any other forms. This change will help to improve the check-in process for our families and help ensure they are receiving consistent information. This will also alleviate GSVs from having to address sensitive topics such as fee adjustments or the Registered Guest and Visitor Suitability form. Look for more information about this new process in the Need To Know Binder. |
Santa's Workshop: Help Needed
Each year, we convert the conference room at our Limestone Street location into Santa's Workshop where donated items are sorted and organized so our families can easily find gifts for their child and families. We need volunteers to help stock our workshop, assist families select their gifts and possibly help them with gift wrapping. The workshop runs from December 14 through December 23 between the hours of 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on December 16, 17, 18, and 23 and from 4 to 8 p.m on December 14 through December 22. If you are interested in helping, there is a sign up sheet in the front office at Limestone or contact Mary Friend at

As dedicated RMHCCIN volunteers, you know first-hand the impact our House makes for our families. Your donation helps give families like little Ava's some of the most precious gifts: joy, courage, and - most importantly - togetherness at a time that they need it most.

Just for Laughs
Patti Cooper, our House Operations Associate, recently had a conversation with a young child at our Limestone Street location. He came by the office to say hi to Mac, our House therapy dog, and was told that he was taking a nap. The little boy looked at his mom and said, "Mac must've been out at a party with other dogs last night!"

Look Who Was Caught Rolling Out The Red Carpet
Patti Cooper, House Operations Associate, recently caught Christopher Burtzo displaying cooperation, communication and teamwork.
Patti wrote: "Burtzo has been instrumental in helping get our Limestone location organized! Burtzo spent many hours putting together metal shelving units in the basement and GSA apartment so we would have more storage space."
Emilie Bender, Guest Services Assistant, recently caught
Charlie Giesting, Guest Services Volunteer at Limestone, displaying cooperation, communication and teamwork.
Emilie wrote: "Charlie consistently looks for projects that need to be done and does not hesitate to dive in. Whether it's folding laundry, breaking down boxes to be recycled or helping with simple repairs - Charlie is proactive and wonderful to work with!
"
Thank you, Burtzo and Charlie. You are appreciated!
Congratulations! Your Crew Carwash pass is in the mail.
Remember, if you catch a volunteer rolling out the red carpet and demonstrating excellent customer service, please submit a nomination using the form below. Printed copies of this form are also available in the front office at both Limestone and Riley. Each month, all nominations are eligible for a random drawing for a Crew Carwash pass.
