FEATURED EVENT: Rep. Sollman Visits PAX Classrooms at Reedville
State Representative Janeen Sollman visited Reedville Elementary School on Friday, Dec. 1, to learn more about the PAX Good Behavior Game that is currently being used in several HSD elementary schools as a way to create, establish, and maintain predictable, safe, and fun learning environments that foster positive, caring student behaviors. The system is unique in that students help develop and enforce their own behavior norms in the classroom, which encourages self-reflection, self-efficacy, and community. The program is research- and evidenced-based to enhance self-regulation and self-control, and is even proven to increase academic achievement and future health outcomes. For more information, please contact Sarah Keller, PAX Teacher on Special Assignment.

HAPPENING IN HILLSBORO

At their meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 12, the School Board will discuss the application and membership selection process for both the School Board vacancy and the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee. Director Wayne Clift announced his resignation from the Board, effective after the December meeting, to pursue a teaching position with the District. A replacement must be appointed for the remainder of his term (through June 30, 2019). The Bond Oversight Committee is a group of citizens who will be kept informed about the progress of our bond projects, provide independent oversight, and report to the Board on a periodic basis. Additional information about both processes will be available on our website and social media pages on Dec. 13, and will also be shared in our Jan. 2 issue of "Hot News."
