Dear North Community Catholic School Families:

Happy New Year!  After a wonderful Christmas vacation, it has been wonderful to welcome everyone back to school!

January 6 marks the traditional date of the Feast of the Epiphany which we celebrate liturgically this weekend.  The Feast of the Epiphany celebrates the visit of the Three Kings with their gifts to the Infant Jesus, and it often called "Little Christmas."  Last night our school celebrated our own "Little Christmas" when we finally had the opportunity to perform our Christmas program, "What Does Rudolph Have to Do With Christmas?" which is an original work by our music teacher, Mr. Guy Batterson.  I would like to congratulate all of our students in grades K-5 and thank the teachers and Mr. Batterson for their efforts in preparing the students.

We are now in our third marking period of the school year.  Today your child will bring home their grade card from the 2nd quarter, and we celebrated the students' academic successes at our honors assembly following Mass.  Congratulations to all of our students who received honors today!  I encourage all of our students to make doing their best academically one of their goals in this New Year.
Enjoy your weekend, and Merry "Little Christmas" to all of you!

  Peace and Blessings,
Mrs. Beth Strbik
Principal

Cub Scout News

Pack 88 welcomes all families who are interested in scouting to attend our January pack meeting on Thursday, January 19, 7 PM at the parish center on Castlewood. All boys in first through fifth grade are eligible to be Cub Scouts!

Attention Scouting Alumni
Are you a parent or grandparent with a history in scouting? Pack 88 is in need of Den Leaders and a Cubmaster who can help lead our groups. Requirements: Enjoy helping young men and their families grow in scouting and encourage them on their path; have an excellent sense of humor; be prepared to endure poor singing, bad skits and being the brunt of jokes. A love of service, camping and hiking also helpful. In exchange, you get to mentor and form young men that will lead the world into the future. In exchange for two Thursday evenings a month (1st and 3rd), you can make a great difference to boys in the neighborhood.  Training and guidance will be provided. Contact Jeanne Friedel:  [email protected]

SCRIP
Shopping for groceries, filling the tank with gas, eating at a favorite restaurant....These routine things we do every week have proven to be a great way for Blessed Sacrament parents to shave off money from their child's tuition.  You purchase gift cards or certificates from places you shop at anyway and the discount goes back to your child's tuition.  More than 200 local businesses participate in the SCRIP program.  Families who purchase the certificates can designate that their portion be applied to their tuition bill.  To purchase SCRIP, contact Katie at [email protected] or phone her at 419-438-0476.
