Calendar Vote

We have received a few questions regarding the calendar vote this year. KEA has an open grievance regarding the District's failure to pay for the August pre-service days in the past four years. One of the factors in that grievance is that the "footnotes" at the bottom of the calendar explain how pre-service days should be paid. The calendar options presented by the District do not have those footnotes, and don't indicate when the pre-service days will be.

We asked the District to add those to the calendar so that we could hold a vote. As of yet, they have not agreed to add the footnotes.

As a result, we have notified them that we want to bargain with the District over the calendar options, voting procedures, and the presence of the "footnotes." The District cannot legally impose a calendar without bargaining it, and we hope that the District will agree to meet with us as soon as possible so that we can vote on calendar options that include all of the information you need to make an informed choice.

Injured, Threatened or Harassed?

If you are being threatened, harassed, bullied, or assaulted by a student, you have the right to have the student permanently removed from your classroom.

Art. 4, Sec. 1.B.4 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement reads:
"When there is reasonable belief of imminent assault or harassment, any student found to have assaulted, threatened, harassed or bullied an employee will not be returned to the employee's classroom or instructional area without mutual approval of the employee and building administrator."

If you believe that you are not safe because of a student, please talk with your building rep or contact the KEA office!
