From the Principal's Desk
Dear Families,
Happy New Year! Did you make a New Year's Resolution for your family this year? I did. More togetherness! We are committing to more quality time together at the dinner table. Like most of you, our evenings are filled with sports, choir, and other extracurricular activities. Our goal is to make time at least twice a week to share a meal together, talk about our days, and share some laughs. We are turning off the electronics and turning on the family conversation!
The bonus is that conversing as a family gives our children a chance to practice having an active voice. Children need to be heard and research has proven that regular family meals have physical, mental, and emotional benefits. If you don't already, you might consider having your children share about their school day or something that interests them. Dinner is a time to enjoy one another's day, ideas and dreams. Parents, talk about current events that are age appropriate for your child and then give them a chance to express their opinion. Make sure all family members talk and are active listeners. Most importantly, enjoy your time of togetherness. I know I will!
Blessings,
Laurie Maxwell
Principal

Exciting Offer for Kindergarten and New Families
We shared in a previous update that we are experiencing a high level of interest in our Kindergarten program. We are also receiving many inquiries from families with older students looking for a new school environment. In order to be proactive in our staffing and budgeting for next school year, we have opened 2017-2018 pre-registration for Kindergarten and new families. Submitting a registration form and fee before January 31 will secure future Blues a spot in our school and lock in 2016-2017 tuition rates.
Please help us spread the word to families you know that are considering St. Michael for their children.
