 From the Office
Dear Parents,

We had another great open lab session this  week in our Innovation Space in the media center. As I mentioned last  week, there are lots of wonderful materials for students to explore including robotics, electronics, 3D design and printing, computer coding, and more. We are offering free open lab times for parents and their Riverside School children to sign up for in February (1 session) and March (5 sessions) on specific Tuesdays and Thursdays after school from 3:15 to 4:15.  If you are interested, you can find out more and sign up by clicking here.

Sincerely,
Christopher Weiss

DIGITAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT TIPS
As we are mid-way through our second year of the district-wide Digital Learning Environment implementation, many parents have questions about how the program is being implemented and how it is evolving. On September 8th , the Digital Learning Environment team presented the Board of Education with an extensive evaluation report for the DLE program, which is available for parents to read via BoardDocs here . The report offers many insights and metrics on progress made, areas needing further attention, and objectives for the coming years. Reports from previous years are also available on the GPS website here . If you have questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact the PTAC DLE Committee at ptactech@gmail.com .

CIRCUS NIGHT- THANK YOU!
The 3rd grade circus night was a great success! We had over 120 people from over 50 families attend. The kids showcased some of the skills they are learning in PE and everyone enjoyed attempting the circus arts challenges.  It was amazing to see the students transform themselves into teachers when they were working with their parents to teach them the skills. Kids also used the cue vocabulary to help their parents feel success.  We are all very proud of our 3rd graders!

GREEN GOAL -- GO COLD
Doing all your laundry in cold water saves energy. In fact, almost 90% of the energy consumed by a washing machine goes to heating the water, according to Energy Star. Newer detergents, plus the washing machine's agitating action, are enough to remove stains sans heat.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to email us at riversideschoolpta@gmail.com.

Sincerely,
Dina Murphy and Jenn Wolfe
