2017 African Diaspora Intermediate/Advanced Dance Workshop Series Feb 11-12

We would like to take this moment to introduce you to our Diaspora Dance Intensive Workshop Series.

We are kicking of the series this year with an in depth study of Haitian Dance. As January 1st is Haitian Independence Day and February is Black History Month we felt it was an amazing time to honor Haiti the first Black Republic post Trans Atlantic Slave Trade and Western European Colonialism.

Evolve Dance / An Intimate Moment With The Masters workshop series is an opportunity for one to immerse him/herself in the dances of the Afro-Diaspora. This two day workshop provides a space for 15 intermediate - advanced participants to learn the intent and nuances of the movement with integrated lecture and Q & A sessions with a Master Teacher.

The Evolve workshop has been carefully planned to cater to the dancers, professionals, scholars and educators who desire to deepen their understanding of these dance forms. The weekend will be spent with a Master Teacher (accompanied by live drummers) where technique, music, history and theory will be explored in a concentrated manner. Participants will be in a small cohort of 15 to create an intimate setting where one can receive the information and attention needed for his/her individual growth. At the end of the workshop every person will walk away with materials that will support the information learned in class.
