WHAT IS THE TOWN LAKES COMMITTEE?
The St. Germain Town Lakes Committee was created in 2003 in response to growing concerns about the threats of aquatic invasive species.  It was believed that more could be accomplished for the good of all lakes by combining the resources of multiple local lake organizations   than could be accomplished by  lake organizations working independently.  It was also hoped that  the town board of supervisors would become more aware and more supportive of lake management issues if the committee functioned under the umbrella of town government.  The committee has found success with both of these objectives.  More about past accomplishments of the committee and its ongoing challenges will follow in future messages.

Each lake organization participating in the Town Lakes Committee is welcome to send as many people to committee meetings as it wishes; however voting is limited to two representatives per lake organization.  Each organization annually designates two primary and one alternate voting representative.  Current voting members are displayed at the bottom of this message.

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT INLAND LAKES?
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW?
Our lakes are vitally important to the town s economy and must not be taken for granted if they are to remain healthy.  The need for proper and effective lake management becomes more apparent each year. We will inform you about the relatively short history of northern Wisconsin lakes and the stresses that have been placed on them in the very recent past.  Some of those stresses stem from political and economic conditions which the committee has no control over and little ability to rectify.

We look forward to sharing lake management issues with you.  We hope these messages will be well received.  Please feel welcome to share your thoughts and opinions at any time with me or your lake committee representatives.
