The City of Healdsburg Storm Preparations
City of Healdsburg - January 4, 2017 - The City of Healdsburg has begun to experience winter rains and has taken several measures to prepare for the incoming weather. During the fall, Public Works utilized the California Conservation Corps to remove brush and debris from Foss Creek and its tributaries. Additionally, a flow gauge installed on Foss Creek at North Street, is monitored several times a day during and after storm events. Routinely, Public Works monitors the city's detention basins, storm drain inlet structures and investigates and resolves any local flooding issues, which are usually drain inlets covered with leaves or papers. In an effort to be cautious, the City has opened a sandbag filling station for city residents and businesses, should they need them, at the Community Center, 1557 Healdsburg Avenue. This station is open from 8 AM - 5 PM and is currently located on the paved area next to the field. Bags are unfilled and residents are asked to bring their own shovels and ties. For information on how to fill and place sandbags: https://youtu.be/5fa8ApB_TFc. Residents are also encouraged to sign up to receive real-time localized emergency situations and relevant community advisories through Nixle. This service is secure, reliable, and easy to use. Nixle Alerts may be sent via Text, Email, Voice, Web, Social Media, and the Nixle Mobile App in an instant. As a resident, there are two simple ways for you to register: 1. Text your zip code (95448) to 888777 from your mobile phone 2. Sign-up and create a user profile on www.nixle.com
If you need assistance from the City's Utility Department, we are asking that you please call the Utility Hotline at (707) 431-7000 or TOLL FREE (855) 755-6586. In the event of an emergency outside of utility needs, please call 9-1-1 or police dispatch directly at (707) 431-3377. For additional tips on winter preparedness, please visit www.cityofhealdsburg.org or go directly to http://www.cityofhealdsburg.org/DocumentCenter/View/6857.

A Small business Agenda for the First 100 Days
Letter from Small Business Majority CEO John Arensmeyer:
Dear Friends,
There's no question that the dramatic results of the 2016 election will have a profound impact on our country, including our small business community. In the face of drastic proposed policy changes, we must preserve hard fought gains that benefit America's entrepreneurs and push back against any policies that would endanger the prosperity of America's 28 million small businesses. That's why today we're releasing our recommendations for the new administration's
first 100 days in office.
In order to ensure our nation's job creators can thrive and help grow our economy, it's crucial that the next administration focus on policy solutions that will truly help our nation's small businesses succeed. We believe at the core of what small business owners need is
(1) affordable and quality health coverage, (2) tax policies that benefit small businesses rather than large corporations, (3) real infrastructure investments, (4) access to responsible capital, (5) comprehensive immigration reform, and more.
The Affordable Care Act has enabled 20 million Americans, many of whom are small business owners, their employees and the self-employed, to obtain affordable, quality health coverage. We are eager to amend the law where it needs to be fixed, but we will deploy the voices of small business owners across the country to strenuously combat any irresponsible efforts to repeal it.
Likewise, we are prepared to work in a bi-partisan manner to support real job-producing infrastructure programs and to amend our tax code to promote domestic job creation and broad, inclusive prosperity. But, we will not stand by in the face of a tax plan that further rewards large multinational corporations at the expense of America's consumers: the middle class-and America's job creators: small businesses.
We will also continue to help expand opportunities for small businesses to access much-needed credit and capital, but we will fight to protect policies and institutions that guard against predatory loan practices. And, we will do everything we can to protect our nation's hard-working immigrants who are vital contributors to millions of thriving small businesses and who start new enterprises at twice the rate of the population as a whole.
Our nation's small businesses have a crucial role to play in upcoming policy debates, and policymakers must keep them top-of-mind when considering significant policy changes. To read more about our recommendations for the first 100 days, visit our website.
We look forward to our continued partnership with you as we work to elevate these small business issues in 2017.
John Arensmeyer, Founder & CEO
