 At Your Service
Members, AIAOC Needs Your Help!

The AIAOC Bylaws were created in 1952 when the chapter first received its charter. While there have been minor adjustments through the years, the Bylaws are antiquated and do not address today’s technology, professional interests, nor consistent with the Institute’s Bylaws – a requirement for an AIA charter. The Secretary Advisory Committee took on the task this year to thoroughly review and modify the Bylaws to be relevant to today’s governance. This included reviews by National AIA and the AIAOC Board of Directors.

Stewardson Keefe LeBrun Travel Grant
Center for Architecture and AIA New York are currently accepting applications for the Stewardson Keefe LeBrun Travel Grant. This grant is designed for early to mid-level architects to further their personal and professional development through travel. The grant was originally based on the idea of the Grand Tour, in which recent architectural graduates would travel through Europe experiencing art, architecture and culture first-hand. It focuses less on academic projects and more on self-directed education and self-fulfillment. Applications are due November 1st and a sole recipient will be awarded $15,000.

Advocacy
What’s your order for the 2016 AIAOC Community Leaders Breakfast Series?

Whether you’re seeking to develop relationships or want to influence policy that affects the built
environment, the “AIAOC Community Leaders Breakfast with...” series is the members voice to
local advocacy.

Who would you like to meet in a round table setting in 2016?

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action).
Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
