Launching a New Project

Juvenile Code Assessment Project (JCAP)
In 2006, Georgia Appleseed, the Barton Child Law & Policy Center, and Voices for Georgia's Children formed the JUSTGeorgia coalition. This coalition advocated for changes to Georgia's juvenile code. (Read more about JUSTGeorgia).

The new code went into effect on January 1, 2014. This new project is a review that will focus on the effectiveness of the law three years after its implementation.

These findings could then support the Legislative and Executive Branch leadership as they plan an agenda for the 2018 General Assembly to assure that effective juvenile justice reform will be viewed as a critical element of the Governor Deal's legacy.
