No Place Like Home: Design Workshops and Public Comment Period

On July 1, 2016, Governor Brown signed legislation dedicating $2 billion in bond proceeds to invest in the development of permanent supportive housing for people who are in need of mental health services and are experiencing homelessness, chronic homelessness, or at-risk of chronic homelessness. This new program is called, No Place Like Home (NPLH).

The Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) is hosting the following regional workshops to present the initial NPLH program design. As a part of the program design process, HCD has developed a draft framing paper , which outlines the proposed program infrastructure. The public comment period for the draft framing paper begins on December 21st and ends on January 31st.

Special Message from NAMI regarding Program Advertisements

NAMI programs are a priority for our 2017 marketing campaigns. The main push will happen this month, when Programs will get top billing through a coordinated set of promos/ads across our national communications channels (e.g., website, social media, publications). Throughout the year, we'll periodically rerun the ads as space permits.

NAMI wanted to give you a heads up that these will start showing on our national channels as early as next week and they suspect (and fully hope) that you will see an uptick of interest in the programs. The graphics are attached below and you are welcome to use them (but not required to do so).

The set of graphics include:
Thank you for educating and supporting your communities. You make a difference!

NAMI CA Peer and Family Trainings

NAMI CA would like to thank all affiliates for their patience this fiscal year with the training schedule for family and peer program trainings. NAMI CA is in process of negotiating bridge funding with the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission (MHSOAC), while we await the Request for Proposal for the next 3 years of funding to be released. The bridge funding, while at a significant reduction of the previous contract amounts, will allow NAMI CA to coordinate some trainings. We anticipate these trainings taking place in the first quarter of 2017, and will provide more information on requesting trainings in the coming weeks.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.
