Business Minor Quick Facts:
  • Minors are only an additional 9-18 credits for students who have completed pre-requisites.
  • Prerequisites vary for each minor and can often overlap with other requirements.
  • Open Advising Hours are a great opportunity to discuss and plan for a minor!

School of Business Minors
Management
Students develop essential management skills in entrepreneurial thinking, creativity and innovation; teamwork, leadership, managing diversity and negotiation in complex business environments. Management majors can declare a concentration in Entrepreneurship or choose to focus their studies on Management Consulting, Human Capital Management, or International Business . Not open to non-business students or Management majors.
Accounting
Students gain an understanding of accounting fundamentals. Meets pre-reqs for Master of Science in Accounting Program. Not open to Accounting majors.
Analytics
Students gain an understanding of data analytics. This minor is offered jointly with the School of Engineering. Not open to Business Data Analytics majors.
Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship
Students gain experience with creation, implementation, and evaluation of original ideas. This minor is in collaboration between the Neag School, the School of Fine Arts, the School of Business, and the School of Engineering. Enrolling in EPSY 2810 is suggested as a starting point for this minor.
Digital Marketing and Analytics
Students gain an integrative approach to digital marketing and analytics  that includes digital products and services, dynamic pricing, online distribution, social media and digital communication. Marketing majors may declare this as a concentration within their major. Not open to Marketing majors.
Information Assurance
Students gain a basic understanding of computer security and information assurance. This minor is offered jointly with the School of Engineering.
Professional Sales Leadership
Students gain a strategic approach that integrates sales efforts through prioritization of sales opportunities, team collaboration, and account planning. Marketing majors may declare this as a concentration within their major. Not open to Marketing majors.
Real Estate
Students gain a basic understanding of real estate topics. Students take the Real Estate Principles and Financial Management courses, and can further choose between a variety of Real Estate-focused business courses. Not open to Real Estate majors.
Business Fundamentals
Students gain a basic understanding of a broad array of business topics including Business Law, Finance, Management, Accounting, OPIM, and Marketing. Not open to business majors.
Construction Engineering and Management
Students gain a basic understanding of the fundamentals and application of construction engineering management. This minor is offered through the School of Engineering. Not open to business majors.
Entrepreneurship
Students gain a basic understanding of entrepreneurship topics through courses such as Managerial and Interpersonal Behavior, Risks and Rewards of Entrepreneurship, and New Venture Management. Management majors may declare this as a concentration within their major. Not open to business majors.
Engineering Management
Students gain an understanding of the principles of managing organizations involved in engineering activities and technology development. This major is offered jointly with the School of Engineering. Not open to business majors.
Healthcare Management and Insurance Studies
Students gain a basic understanding of healthcare and insurance topics through courses such as Introduction to Healthcare Management and Health Care Industry Analysis, and can further choose between a variety of HCMI-focused business courses. Not open to business majors.
