From the President's Desk
We all know that in order to be more effective, we need time away. We also know the hassle of taking that time. We have to plan to be away. Then we have to catch up upon our return. Sometimes it simply does not seem worth it.
But we also know Jesus took time away to be by himself, to reflect, to pray and to listen. If it was important enough for Jesus, it should be a priority for us as well.
In my last ministry report, I had to explain to the Council that because of VBS, the WELCA Triennial Gathering, 4 funerals and regular activities, I took only one of my days off. I knew it wasn't good. I could feel the drain. I knew I was not at my best. So I did the most illogical thing. In the midst of fall preparations, I took 3 days off to play.
My friend and I went to an African Safari and fed animals. We took the ferry to Put-in-Bay and enjoyed the sights. We sat at the Marblehead lighthouse and watched the sun set into Lake Erie. That is, until a skunk decided to join us! We simply allowed the pressures of deadlines and to-do lists to sit and wait.
So, my wish and my prayer for each of you reading this is that you would be able to take some time to play in the midst of all that needs to be done. Take some time to read. Take a walk. Find a park or beach. Allow your mind and body to rest in God's presence. And may God's blessings wash over you like the waves at the lighthouse as you continue to minister to others.
Blessings!
Pastor Juli Lejman-Guy, President
