Epiphany House Blessings
The Feast of the Epiphany offers us an invitation to invite Christ into our lives outside of church, and to rededicate our life at home to God. Pick up an Epiphany booklet, which has a piece of chalk attached, at church this weekend. In it you'll find a short ritual that can guide you in participating in the centuries-old Christian tradition of Ephiphany house blessings. Simply gather your family, friends or neighbors, offer prayers together for the year ahead, and write "20+C+M+B+16" on your front door. Read the booklet to find out what the symbols mean! This is a great way to bring faith home, and is fun for all ages. Share pictures of your house blessing on the St. Bart's Facebook page!

Haiti Donations Will Be Matched!
Many of you enjoyed meeting Fr. Noe Bernier last month when he was here to share the importance of education to the Loranette community. St. Bart's has raised more than $48,000 of our $72,000 goal to build The Epiphanie School, which also will serve as a much-needed community center. Now, a generous member at St. Bart's has
offered to match Haiti donations up to $6,000. This is your chance to make a difference in someone's life. Start the new year off supporting St. Bart's efforts to build a school in Haiti.
Donations can be made online or write Haiti on the memo line of your check.

Mary Magdalene - the First Evangelist - and You!
Sunday, January 8, 9 a.m., Parish Hall
"Now after Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons. 10 She went out and told those who had been with him, while they were mourning and weeping. 11 But when they heard that Jesus was alive and had been seen by her, they would not believe it." (from the gospel according to Mark)
If you cringe at the world "evangelist," then this forum is for you! Let's admit it - evangelism can be scary. Most of us would much rather politely decline the biblical commandment to share our faith - it's too uncomfortable. But what if evangelism isn't about converting people, but about mutual sharing? What if evangelism is a spiritual practice, much like prayer and service, that has the potential to transform us? Come learn about Mary Magdalene, who was the first disciple to witness the risen Christ and to share about it.
UPCOMING FORUM: The Dream Continues: The Gospel and the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King
Sunday, January 15, 9 a.m., Parish Hall
When religious leaders chastised Jesus for taking his place at a dinner table while still dirty from a day's work as Messiah, Jesus replied, "Woe to you! You tithe but neglect justice and the love of God." (Luke 11:37-42) In the same fashion, Dr. Martin Luther King, while held captive in a Birmingham jail cell in 1963, challenged church leaders in the South who professed support for his goals but who, through inaction and denouncement of his ways, appeared "more devoted to order than to justice." Join us on this holiday weekend, reserved to honor the life and ministry of Dr. King, as we give voice to the words he wrote to us, the Church, and reflect on the continuing urgency of Jesus's call to stand up for "justice and the love of God" for all people.
