Meet Our NBPT Chamber Member!

Career Resources Corporation is a private, non-profit agency, located in Haverhill which began in 1968.

The agency provides support services for youths and adults with a wide range of disabilities and other barriers.  Career Resources continues to expand the scope of its services to better meet the needs of our community.

The Employment Services Programs support youths and adults with disabilities including visual impairments, emotional and psychiatric disabilities, physical disabilities, brain injuries and Veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder and other injuries. Most recently CRC has added a Youth Employment program serving over 50 youths with autism becoming employed after high school or enrolled in a secondary education program to help them lead the independent life they choose. The goal of these services is to provide skills assessments and job placement for people who can enter the workforce with some short-term training and support.

The Employment Division also provides job training and job placement services for approximately 175 people.  Let us know if we can be of assistance in filling your open positions.

GNOCA Presents the  7th Annual Newburyport Lantern Festival This Sunday

The annual Newburyport Lantern Festival will take place on Sunday, Sept. 3, from 6-8 P.M. The Bartlet Mall Frog Pond will be illuminated by hundreds of glowing lanterns floating on the water. Each one represents a person's special wish or a loved one who is being remembered.

This is a free, outdoor family-friendly event. All are invited to come watch and/or participate. Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic supper and blanket or chairs to relax in the park while taking in this spectacle.  Enjoy live music performances and speakers leading up to the grand illumination, which will take place at dusk.

Lanterns will be available for a $10 suggested donation. Participants will have the opportunity to decorate their own paper lantern, and calligraphers will be on hand to assist with lettering. Lanterns can then be lit and floated at dusk.

This is an incredibly moving and healing experience for anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one, because they can honor that special person with a handwritten sentiment on their lantern, and witness as it joins with hundreds of others, casting a beautiful glow on the pond.
