North Dakota tops the ranks among the 50 states in many areas.  In which of these indicators does North Dakota rank number 1?

Know the Trends.
Over half of individuals ages 16 to 64 below the poverty level ( 52.1%) were employed and this percentage increased from 50.8 percent in 2000. If we don't consider the people who are not eligible to work (e.g., in school or disabled), the percentage of people who work and still live under the poverty level is even higher. Simply having a job does not help an individual move out of poverty. Wage rates, employment level, education, and family composition are among other factors that impact poverty.
