Happy New Year - From the CEO

The Macomb County Chamber had an incredibly successful year in 2016, thanks largely to all of the hard work, networking and creativity of our Board of Directors, members and staff.  It is especially noteworthy that this team of individuals devoted time, contributions and constructive feedback to move our chamber forward.

I'm happy to report an increase in membership through the last year, which means increased opportunities in business leads, networking and advertising for your own organizations. We also successfully hosted 36 events, including our hallmark events, The Athena Awards and the Macomb Hall of Fame, which we couldn't do without your sponsorship and support.  Your reliability and dedication is what makes living, working, and doing business in Macomb County an incredible experience.

In 2017, we embark on our 125th year of serving this community and we look forward to our upcoming Annual Meeting and Board Induction Ceremony with Matt Cullen, Principal and CEO of Rock Ventures, strengthening our county's relationship with Detroit entities.

The Macomb County Chamber has done great work for more than 1 25 years and I encourage you to rea p the benefits of that investment and what is to come in the future. The Chamber is here to serve you.  Let's work together to make 2017 the greatest year
yet for your business!

Get Fit in the New Year at the Detroit Zoo

Log up to 7,000 steps in one loop; burn calories on the Winter Rink
Surveys show that the majority of people ditch their New Year's resolutions within a week, but Detroit Zoo-goers can make theirs stick all winter long. A loop through the Zoo's 125 acres can result in 7,000 steps on a Fitbit and similar fitness trackers - and the Zoo's new Winter Rink also provides an opportunity to burn calories. A 25-minute skating session can burn up to 200 calories. The cost for guests to rent skates and take a spin on the rink is $7; for those who bring their own skates, the cost is $3.
Macomb Community College students, staff and faculty pledge a day of service in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Macomb's MLK Day of Service on Jan. 16 will begin with a brief opening ceremony at 8:00 a.m. in the John Lewis Student Center (K Building) on Macomb's South Campus in Warren. On the holiday, Monday, Jan. 16, and the preceding Saturday, Jan. 14, nearly 500 volunteers will be deployed to approximately 30 sites throughout Metro Detroit to participate in activities ranging from preparing and serving lunch in area soup kitchens to participating in activities with local seniors and veterans.
