Here are a few facts to help make an informed decision on how to vote.

1. The last NFL franchise that changed ownership was the Buffalo Bills. The team was sold in September for $1.4 billion. The Bills play in the 50th-largest metro market in the U.S. in an outmoded stadium built 42 years ago.
2. The top valuations of NFL teams these days according to Forbes magazine are the Dallas Cowboys at $3.2 billion, New England Patriots at $2.6 billion, Washington Redskins at $2.4 billion and New York Giants at $2.1 billion.
3. The Los Angeles Dodgers major-league baseball team sold for $2.15 billion to the Guggenheim Group in March 2012.
4. The Los Angeles Clippers pro basketball team was sold to Steve Ballmer for $2 billion after Donald Sterling ran the team and his reputation into the ground.
5. The Los Angeles Rams of Anaheim were the last NFL franchise to relocate when they moved to St. Louis in 1995. They paid a $28 million relocation fee to the NFL. Now, two decades down the road, that fee could be a whopping $250 million.
6. The Anschutz Entertainment Group has committed to privately finance a new state-of-the-art football facility in downtown Los Angeles as part of its L.A. Live development, a 4-million square-foot, $2.5 billion downtown Los Angeles sports, residential and entertainment district. The firm has consummated the most lucrative naming-rights deal in sports history with a $700 million contract with Farmers Insurance. If a relocated team or expansion franchise were to move and play in this stadium, it could be the beneficiary of this incredible deal.
7. The St. Louis Rams, San Diego Chargers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills have all talked about relocation or seeking new stadiums in their home or new markets. The Bills will most likely be staying in Buffalo on the basis of the recent purchase by the Pegula family, which has deep roots in Buffalo.
8. Relocation fees are split evenly between all NFL teams and the league.
9. Twenty-four votes are needed to facilitate a relocation to L.A. Both the Oakland Raiders and the St. Louis Rams have stadium leases that expire at the end of the 2014-15 season.

The NFL could end up overseeing the entire stadium project on its own by working with an entity like AEG on its Farmers Field project.

Looks like Commissioner Goodell is about to call roll on this vote. Before he does, here is some additional information to chew on before he calls your name.

The NFL is the only one of the Big Four sports leagues that could realistically expand without causing damage to its brand, TV ratings, live attendance, popularity and quality of play.

An expansion fee for an NFL team in Los Angeles would easily command $2.5 billion or more. With the New York market model of two teams in one stadium you could be looking at five billion bucks. That's billion, with a B!

There is also a scenario where the owners of the L.A. Dodgers swap stadium locations with the AEG group, which also owns the L.A. Live entertainment area in downtown L.A. next to Staples Center. It would make more sense and a ton more money to put the new Dodger Stadium downtown with 100-plus revenue-producing events than to use the space for a football stadium with 30 or so events, mainly on Sundays. The NFL honchos could take the Dodger Stadium location and all its parking and build a Shangri-La. As it stands, the current Dodger Stadium is going to require hundreds of millions in seismic upgrades above and beyond what ownership has already spent in improving the stadium.

The commissioner has just called your name.

Three simple options

1. Keep Los Angeles teamless.
2. Let one of the aforementioned teams relocate at $250 million and share.
3. Expand by two more teams and pocket 1/32 of $5 billion.

Remember, you are an owner. Would you vote to share 1/32 of a hypothetical $250 million fee or the same percentage of $5 billion?
