HigherEdCSI Higher Education Center Information
Last month marked the three year anniversary of the Hepworth Higher Education Center, and we love being surrounded by such wonderful CSI faculty, staff, and students. The separation between CSI, Idaho State University, Boise State University, and the University of Idaho has never been narrower. Please don't hesitate to stop by if you're ever in the neighborhood. We would love to see you!

Over the last couple of years, the CSI Higher Education Center members have visited several CSI classrooms to give 5-10 minute presentations on the value of continuing education beyond CSI graduation. These visits were so successful that the CSI Higher Education Center would like to offer similar presentations this year. We provide advising, admissions, and transfer services for future CSI graduates to obtain bachelor's degrees from any one of our institutions.

Could we come and introduce ourselves to your students this semester? We promise not to exceed 10 minutes. If you feel like this visit would benefit your students please feel free to email Christy Bowman ( [email protected]) with some dates and times that work best for you and we will put it on our schedule. Or, you are welcome to book an appointment at this link http://christybowman.youcanbook.me/. If the time of your class is already greyed on my calendar please email me with the dates and times and we will make sure to get someone there.

From your friends in the fishbowl,

Vicky Fajardo, University of Idaho

UPickNew Hours For the U-Pick Garden
The U-pick garden at the College of Southern Idaho has been so popular lately that vegetable and berry availability varies day by day, depending on how much ripe produce has been picked on any given day. Generally speaking right now, the garden features tomatoes, onions, green beans, eggplant, lots of jalapenos, yellow peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, and summer squash - all for 75-cents a pound.

Ripening soon will be watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, and winter squash. Apples will also be ready in September. Lots of raspberries are now available for picking at $3 per pound.

Picking times are now 8 to noon on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. No picking appointments are necessary.

The U-pick garden is located on CSI's Breckenridge Endowment Farm on North College Road. The CSI Ag Department will provide containers for picking but visitors should bring their own containers for taking berries home. For more information including any updates to picking times or produce availability, please call 732-6401.

ChicagoTickets Are Available for Chicago, the Musical
Tickets are available for Chicago - the Musical, a co-production of The CSI Community Education Center, The Dilettante Group of the Magic Valley, and Magic Valley Little Theater. Performances will take place Wednesday through Saturday, October 4 - 7, in the CSI Fine Arts Auditorium. Showtimes will be 7:30 nightly with a 2:00 p.m. matinee. Tickets are $14 and can be purchased at tickets.csi.edu, at the CSI Box Office, or by calling 732-6288.
Chicago was nominated in 1975 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Original Score and won the 1997 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. In roaring twenties Chicago, chorine Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband Amos to take the rap...until he finds out he's been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another "Merry Murderess" Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the "American Dream": fame, fortune and acquittal. This sharp edged satire features a dazzling score that sparked immortal staging by Bob Fosse.

This production, directed by CSI's Shane Brown, features Camille Barigar as Roxie Hart, Johanna Stagge as Velma Kelly, Dusty Blackburn as Billy Flynn, Lori Henson as Matron Mama Morton, and Blake Burton as Amos Hart. The show also features choreography by Keesha Olander, musical direction by Lori Henson, and costume design by James Haycock.
