Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday to Lily W., Adam K., and Chaya S!
Thank You!
Tanya Muschanov and Andrea Rodgers were at Akiva Academy on Wednesday, January 18th. The Grade 1 and 2 students had a presentation on Embracing Our Diversity. The Grade 3 students had a follow-up presentation on Coping with Anger. The students were very involved in the discussions and activities. Thank you Tanya and Andrea.
Grade 1-9 Skiing/Snowboarding Field Trip
On Thursday, January 26, 2017, the Grade 1 to Grade 9 students will be going to Canada Olympic Park for skiing / snowboarding lessons. We will leave the school, via chartered school bus, at 9:00 AM. The students will depart from COP at 2:15 PM arriving back at the school between 3:00 and 3:30 PM.

Students need to bring snacks, drinks, and lunch to last the entire day (ordered hot lunches will be sent along for the field trip). Remember to dress for all weather conditions as we will be outside for the day.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR ALL STUDENTS TO ARRIVE ON TIME FOR SCHOOL THAT DAY SO WE CAN BE ON TIME FOR OUR TRIP.

Morning Drop Off
As parking can be difficult outside the school in the morning, we wanted to remind parents of two options that are available to you.  One is available at all times and that is to park in the alley south of the school parking lot along the side.  The other option is to drop off your children to enter the school through the playground back door.
The proper way to do this is to come into the parking lot through the alley (same as carpool line) and to let your children out to go in through the playground back door. (not the doors near the parking lot).  There is an intercom and a doorbell for Akiva next to the door. Please be aware that cars will be coming into the parking lot and we ask you to be courteous and cautious of other people.
Fundraiser Planning Meeting
Thank you to everyone who came to the first fundraiser planning meeting. There will be a follow up meeting on Monday, January 30th at 6:30 PM. If you have any questions or suggestions please speak to Mrs. Mashiah.

Accountability Pillar: Parent Information
As an annual check-up on the education system, the Accountability Pillar provides an opportunity for Alberta Education and school authorities to ensure that we are equipping students for success.

The Accountability Pillar uses a set of 16 indicators consisting of surveys of students, parents and teachers on various aspects of quality; student outcomes such as dropout and high school completion rates; and provincial assessments of student learning.

From January to the end of February, Alberta Education will be conducting the annual Accountability Pillar Survey.
  • In January, parents of students in grades 4-9 will receive a survey from Alberta Education.
  • In February, students in grades 4-9 and all certified teachers will be completing their surveys online at school. All surveys are anonymous and ask questions about experiences with the school.

Your participation in the survey helps provide important information on the quality of education your child is receiving, so we encourage you to return your survey promptly.

Survey results will be available to school authorities in May 2016, and will be reported publicly as part of their 3-Year Education Plans and Annual Education Results Reports.
