Super Hero Run

Saturday, September 16th

at 9:00 a.m.

  The 11 th  annual Run for The Summit will be held on Saturday, September 16 and is a Super Hero 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run. Participants will run through the heart of beautiful Chesterfield Village, dressed in their favorite super hero costumes, starting and ending at The Summit.
Have you signed up for the Superhero Run yet?! Make sure you sign your 
whole family up to run or walk the 5K or 1 Mile Fun Run, because then you'll be sure to get this super cool Summit Superhero shirt! These shirts are considered Summit Spirit Wear and can be worn on Fridays with jeans in lieu of Summit uniforms. You must register by September 9th to receive a shirt!

Spirit Wear Orders Due: Fri., Sept 8
It's time to order NEW Summit Spirit Wear! This is a great way to show off your Summit spirit for students, parents, grandparents, and even our future Summit scholars (check out the onesies available this year!). 

Turn in order forms to the front desk. All order forms must be turned in by Friday, September 8th.


Fall Mum Orders Due: Fri., Sept 8
Kicking off our first Fundraiser of the year: Fall Mums! 
These are beautiful, hearty plants that will accent your home and yard. This fundraiser benefits SPO (Summit Parent Organization) and will provide funds for such things as: Teachers' Professional Development Fund, Muffins with Mom, Donuts with Dad, Grandparents Day, and purchasing items off of teacher/classroom wish lists.  Order forms are due to the front desk on Friday, Sept 8th . Flowers will be ready for pick up on Friday, Sept 29rd during car line.

Lucky 13 Annual Auction & Gala

Friday, October 13th at Darr Agricultural Center

Grab your boots and get ready to party 'til the cows come home! This year's Annual Auction &  Gala is an old west saloon style party complete with gaming, music, appetizers, raffles and silent and live auctions. 

Tickets are $100 per person ( sponsorships are available) and guests can belly up to the open bar, boot scoot to the music, or try their luck at the gaming tables.

The party begins at 7:00 p.m. at Darr Agricultural Center. 

Sponsors, don't forget to arrive early for the 6:00 p.m. sponsors only pre-party! The Leaky Roof Meadery will be serving samples of their delicious mead, for sponsors only, so make sure you're there!
SPO Meeting & Volunteer Training: Thursday, August 31
The first SPO (Summit Parent Organization) Meeting of the school year is tomorrow,  Thursday, August 31 at 9:00 am in the Office Suite (near the music room). SPO President, Veronica Richardson, will be leading the meeting. All Summit parents are invited to attend. SPO Class Reps will be in attendance to represent each class. After the meeting, minutes and notes will be sent to each parent group as well. Veronica said, "I hope that we will be able to use this [meeting] together to answer any questions you may have and set the foundation for another awesome year for The Summit and SPO!" Questions? Immediately following the SPO Meeting, Becky Breckner, Guidance Counselor, will be leading the third Volunteer Training Session. The session will begin approximately at 10 a.m. in the Office Suite, same room as the SPO Meeting. Questions? Contact Becky Breckner, Guidance Counselor.
Piano Lessons Available on Campus with Ms. Appleby
The Summit will host Ms. Victoria Appleby on campus for piano lessons this school year.

Victoria Appleby is a pianist with over fifteen years of piano education, including six years of piano study at the University of Central Missouri, where she recently received a Master of Arts degree in Piano Pedagogy. Victoria has nearly ten years of teaching experience in private instruction, including work through UCM's Community Music Program. Along with her experience in private education, Victoria has organized and run group piano classes for Warrensburg Public Schools, and served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at UCM. Victoria has been involved in many local organizations bringing together artists and teachers for the past ten years, including time spent as president of the student chapter of Music Teachers National Association, and the chair of Master Lessons for Kansas City Music Teachers Association. Victoria has a great deal of experience in performance, having performed all over the state of Missouri and at Steinway Hall in New York City.

We received a $50.80 donation from the AmazonSmile Foundation as a result of usage between April 1 and June 30, 2017. 
AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon that lets customers enjoy the same wide selection of products, low prices, and convenient shopping features as on Amazon.com. The difference is that when customers shop on AmazonSmile ( smile.amazon.com), the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to the charitable organizations selected by customers.
Recycle Your Eclipse Glasses at The Summit
Astronomers Without Borders will be collecting eclipse glasses to redistribute to kids in South America and Asia during the eclipse there in 2019.  If you don't want to keep yours, please bring them into the lobby at The Summit. We will be collecting them through Friday, September 8th. For more information, check out their Facebook Page.
Scrip Orders Due Tuesday, September 5th

Phil Isley, SPO Scrip Coordinator & VP of Lower School, will be placing a Scrip order on Tuesday, September 5th at 9 am. If you are interested in placing an order for physical Scrip cards, please have your order
completed and check or cash to the front desk by that time. If you have not signed up for Presto Pay you are encouraged you to do so as we will not release Scrip cards without payment being made.

Orders will be ready to be picked up  on Friday afternoon.
