Community Servings

We were very excited to be included on a recent segment of Chronicle! WCVB Channel 5 stopped by our kitchen in Jamaica Plain to learn more about Community Servings' "food heals" philosophy.

During their visit, the Chronicle team met corporate volunteers from Rebook who were peeling and chopping fresh vegetables in our kitchen. Corporate and individual volunteers help us prepare and package 2,600 nutritious meals each day for our critically ill clients. Afterwards, reporter Erika Tarantal paid a visit to Chef William Kovel, owner and chef of Catalyst Kitchen to find out why he supports Community Servings through our annual Pie in the Sky fundraiser.

Thanks to WCVB Channel 5, Catalyst Kitchen, and the entire
Pie in the Sky community. With your help, we raised a record-breaking $820,000 to provide beautiful, medically tailored meals
for individuals who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves.

Nutrition Tip:
Rooting for Ginger
The benefits of ginger go far beyond adding flavor to your dishes, soups, and teas. Ginger is a powerful antioxidant and can have stomach-calming effects for individuals experiencing nausea. This is particularly important for our clients with cancer who are undergoing chemotherapy. Ginger also has anti-inflammatory effects and can help with pain management.

Apple-Carrot Ginger Soup
This warm, brightly-colored soup (with just a hint of spicy ginger and sweet apple) will be found in many of our clients' meal bag this holiday season. The spicy ginger is balanced with sweet apple and carrots.

Thank You!
For making the 25th anniversary of Pie in the Sky an incredible success! Special thanks to our amazing sponsors, 110 Bakers, 550 Pie Sellers, and the 12,000 individuals who bought nearly 22,000 pies - together you raised $820,000 in support of nutritious meals for our clients.
