Next Level Training

Once you have the basics, you're invited to take the "next level" training: Wood Badge. It's for new and experienced Scouters alike. Past participants rave, saying it "made me a better leader," it "helped me turn my troop around," and it's "one of the best training experiences I have had." Astronaut Training (kinda) At STEM Adventure!

STEM Adventure Weekend at Lost Pines offers Scouts the chance to earn merit badges from groups of Chemistry, Electronics, Welding, Model Design and Building or Engineering, Astronomy, Space Exploration, Radio.

You'll also meet Tim Hall, the man in charge of training NASA astronauts for space! Tim will present how NASA trains astronauts to do space walks, how they train for extreme disasters, and will even bringing a Spacewalk suit for youth to check out.

2017 Philmont Council Contingent Openings

There are currently openings for the 2017 Contingent for both intact crews and individual Scouts/Adults. Philmont has extended the application deadline until January 31, 2017.

Your Scouts can still attend the National Jamboree with our council contingent! We coordinate all the travel details for our Boy Scouts and Venturers who sign up, including a tour of Washington, D.C.!

Plan A Service Project For November

Participate in our council's Good Turn in November and help your Scouts the habit of life-long service to others. Units are encouraged to honor our late Chief Scout Executive Ben Love, who championed 1990's campaigns against "five unacceptables in society": hunger, drug abuse, child abuse, illiteracy, youth unemployment. Reception For Class of 2016 Eagle Scouts

All Capitol Area Eagle Scouts who earned their Eagle rank in 2016 are invited to attend a reception in their honor on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at the Frank Fickett Scout Training and Service Center. More information will be available in mid-January, and this information will be mailed to the Eagle Scouts at that time. This event is for the Eagle Scouts, their families, their friends and their unit leaders and Scouts.
