Training Just For Pack Committee Members

Pack Committee Chairs and Committee members: ever wonder why your Cubmaster is wearing the "Trained" patch but you aren't? The short answer is... because you have not completed the training requirements for your position!

If you come to University of Scouting on January 21, there's a new program especially for Pack Committee members that will result in you earning the Trained patch. You'll also have an opportunity to learn all sorts of things relevant to your particular "job" in Scouting. We have classes ranging from Unit Finance, recruiting new volunteers, and how to deal with "problem adults."

Resource to Find Service Project Ideas

Many Scouts during our council's November Good Turn found worthwhile service opportunities on JustServe.org: a website devoted to helping volunteers find meaningful ways to serve. At any given time, more than 100 service project ideas can be found on JustServe.org (within Austin metro alone).

We encourage your pack to consider additional service projects during the year, and JustServe can help you find project ideas. If you have any questions about JustServe.org or would like to suggest a service opportunity for posting, please contact Colette McCullough at colette@justserve.org.
Scout Shop Notes

The Matthews Scout Shop staff wishes every person a joyous and safe holiday season! Remember that we have terrific kit ideas to keep your Cub Scout busy over the school break: how about a Monkey Bridge, a Catapult, or a leather wallet? We can fulfill your Cub's Scouting wish list. We also have appreciation gifts for Leaders - come see us soon!

Scout Shop business hours: M-F, 9am-5:30pm and Sat, 10am-2:30pm. Contact us at CACshop@scouting.org!
