Dear STM Community,

Happy New Year and welcome to 2017! I hope that you had a fantastic Christmas break and a merry and joyous season (it's not over yet with Epiphany approaching).

Thank you for making 2016 one of great success and full of blessings. Here at STM, we look forward to what 2017 will bring. We especially look forward to seeing how your children grow spiritually, academically, and physically as the new year progresses.

Speaking of progress - thanks to those of you who made our early re-enrollment process so successful! We  hit 50% re-enrollment in one week and we  are more than half-way to our goal of 85% re-enrolled by Catholic Schools Week!

Furthermore, over Christmas break we also had two amazing things happen (1) over $20,000 in gifts came in for our end-of-year appeals, and (2) a generous check came in that covered over half of the cost of our lockers, leaving only another $3,000 more to go!

Our trajectory for the new year is off to a smashing start! So please, read further and find out More about what is going on here in the coming weeks.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam (to the greater glory of God),

Mr. Olsen

Calling all Men.....time for pancakes!!!!

We are offering a pancake breakfast at the Open House on Jan. 29th that kicks off Catholic Schools Week and Mr. Olsen is seeking dads and all parish men to volunteer in making and serving them. We will be making the real deal - buttermilk pancakes!

If able to help, please email Mr. Olsen at [email protected]
Re-Enroll Today - new incentives!

In cooperation with our partners from the Healey Education Foundation, we are asking for re-enrollment information earlier in the year than normal to enable us to better prepare for the coming school year. Planning is already underway, and this includes understanding where our current families are in their intent to re-enroll. This aids in our budgeting process, helps determine future staffing needs, focuses our recruitment efforts, and helps us build our vision for new programming, technology, and resources for our students.

Congratulations to the Rick and Jessica Nelson in winning the AMC gift cards in our pre-Christmas drawing!

As an added bonus, leading up to Catholic Schools Week we will be having weekly drawings for those who have and those who continue to turn their forms in. So get your forms in to be eligible for prizes such as a one month pass to Tae Kwon Do classes, teeth whitening from Chalet Dental Care, and other such gift cards.

Re-enrollment fees have now returned to the standard $200 family fee for K-8 and PreK standard rates.

Please see the below forms for more details:

Tuition Fees are not yet set for next year, but the increase (if any) should be minimal (1-3%). Also, if you are filling out both PreK and K-8, the enrollment fee becomes that of K-8 family rate.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Mr. Olsen at  [email protected]  or 651.224.4836, Ext. 302.

Thank you for your continued support to St. Thomas More Catholic School and your commitment to Catholic education. You are the backbone of our school and we appreciate your continued partnership and loyalty over the years.

Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Mr. Olsen

Fund-A-Need Updates!

Each school year brings its own unique financial challenges and we want to be transparent about such needs as the arise. With your help, we can continue to give our children the experience they have come to expect in such a supportive and nurturing community.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and your generosity - t he Preschool needs your help!

Lockers for the Preschool (80 lockers ~ $8,000)
Over Christmas break we had a generous $4000.00 donation that brought us closer to our stated goal of $8000 for covering all costs (purchase, installation, and painting) of the new lockers we need to purchase for the preschool. With your help, we can reach our goal by Jan. 16th , when plan on installing them. Help us fund this need so that we can get them installed prior to Catholic Schools Week!

Laminator (~$1,100)
Our school project laminator died prior to break. Help us find a replacement for all our school project needs!

Celebrate Calm ($2500)
Are you interested in helping our teachers develop better skills for dealing with anxious or frustrated children in the classroom? Are you curious how to reach your teenage student and deal with defiance, yelling, or disrespect? Would your child benefit from
specific action steps to deal proactively with stress, peer pressure, anxiety, siblings and more?

Mr. Olsen would like to bring the program "Celebrate Calm" to our school to present to parents, teacher s, and students at multiple different seminars to provide our community more tools for addressing some of these issues. Kirk and Casey Martin will help us find the  language and strategies to help our kids be successful both here and at home.

Kirk and Casey have offered to provide STM a discount for a March presentation and if each family at the school were to pitch in just $15, we could bring this program to STM and equip our children with successful tools for their "toolboxes." If interested in helping bring this to STM, please contact Mr. Olsen via email ([email protected]) or phone (651-224-4836).
