Congratulations to Zone 3 members who participated in the USHJA Zones 3 & 4 Jumper Team Championships in Culpeper, Virginia, August 25-27.

In the Children's (1.10/1.15m) Team Championship Zone 3's Mary McDaniel, Julia Ziffer, Joanna Sayres and Heloise Germain earned the silver medal. The bronze medal went to Emma Peters, Isabelle Song, Grace Hetherington and Addison Reed.
Jessica Matelis, Alyson Gurney, Melanie Ferrio-Wise, and Annie Friedman earned the gold medal in the Adult Amateur (1.10/1.15m) Team Championship. Olivia Carr, Wendy Libert, Juliette Landis and Jennie Towner earned silver. The combined Zone 3/4 team of Stephanie King, Yeardley Pendelton, Tinita Hughes and Grace Krueger earned bronze.

In the Junior/Amateur 1.20/1.25m Championship, Claire Connaghan, Andrea Smith, Lindsay Simmons Beale and Kasey Cadle earned silver and Bailey Doloff, Callan Curtis, Ana Bertozzi and Katlynn Butler earned bronze.
The combined Zone 3/4 team of Quinn Larimer, Hanna Toering and Shelly Zimmerli took home gold in the Junior/Amateur 1.30/1.35m Junior/Amateur Team Championship. And Zone 3's Felicia Russell, Abby Grabowski and Danny Mahon earned bronze.
Special thanks to Zone 3 Chefs d'Equipe Tracy Magness, Sandra Ruiz and Brooke Kemper for leading the teams.
Zone 3's Julia Ziffer took home the silver medal in the Children's Individual Championship. Wendy Libert, Courtney Logan and Jessica Matelis earned gold, silver and bronze, respectively in the Adult Amateur Individual Championship.
In the 1.20/1.25m Junior/Amateur Championship Bailey Doloff earned the bronze medal. Shelly Zimmerli earned the silver medal in the 1.30/1.35m Junior/Amateur Individual Championship. Congratulations Zone 3 members!

Chloe Bellerive
, 18, of Keedysville, Maryland, who was awarded the Zone 3 College Scholarship thanks to the Zone 3 Committee!
"I am honored to have been chosen as the recipient of the Zone 3 College Scholarship," Bellerive said. "I really can not thank USHJA Zone 3 enough for offering this opportunity and selecting me as the recipient! It has truly helped me tremendously this year and has given me the ability to focus more on classes and interning as it has offered me some financial relief. Receiving this scholarship from USHJA Zone 3 brings me one step closer to achieving my goal of becoming an Equine Surgeon and I am so very grateful. Their support helps drive me to achieve all that I want to accomplish on my journey."

What You Need to Know About Zone 3 HOTY

Qualifying Criteria:
Letters of invitation to compete in USHJA Zone 3 Championships will be emailed or mailed in mid-September. Approximately the top 20 horses in each section, based on total USEF zone points, will be invited. The qualifying period includes shows starting on or after December 1, 2016, through shows starting on or before August 31, 2016. Exhibitors will be given one week to accept the invitation. Additional horses will be invited, if invitations are not accepted.
Horses, ponies and riders participating in the USHJA Zone 3 Championships on Sunday also may compete in the WIHS Regional Horse Show.
