Dear Parents,

Happy New Year and welcome back!
It is hard to believe that we are halfway through a school year already. It seems as if each day flows naturally into the next and is full of God's  grace.

As we begin this new year, it is important that we continue to carry out the mission of SCSS which is: "To provide a strong moral, religious, and academic education in the tradition of the Catholic Church...to promote belief and trust in God, respect of self and others, academic excellence, and a lifelong appreciation of learning as well as ongoing spiritual formation."

It is with your partnership that we live this mission and instill it into the lives of our students. Thank you for all you do to help with this process.   I wish peace and God's blessings to each of you and your families.

Quote from Pope Francis:

"At the beginning of this New Year, I offer heartfelt wishes of peace to the world's peoples and the nation."

Faithfully Yours,

Miss Giaquinto

School Closings and Delays!

St. Catherine of Siena School follows the Trumbull Public Schools for weather related closings, delays and early dismissals. The decision is made by the Superintendent of the Trumbull Public Schools.  If you see that Trumbull Public Schools are closed or delayed, we will follow suit.

For these announcements please check our school website after 6:00 am or watch the CT news stations for the listing. You can also register your cell phone number with the CT news stations for closing and delay alerts to be sent directly to your phone.

We will only send out our own notification if we are already in school and the town announces an early dismissal.

A Few Things...

Tardiness: There has been an increase in the number of students who are continuously late for school this year. If a student comes to school once the prayer bell has rung at 7:50 am they are considered tardy. The procedure is to stop at the nurse for a tardy slip before going to class. The tardy becomes part of their attendance record and noted on the report card.

Lunch/Snack:   Recently there have been many students not coming to school with snack and or lunch. We do not always have leftover lunches to provide to them.  Please make sure that a lunch and snack, or an extra snack is sent to school with your child daily. Thank you.

Lost  and Found:   There is a box in the front lobby of the school filled with various types of clothing. If you think your child is missing an item please take a look.  After this week we will be donating the clothing that is left behind.
