IT WAS A SUN VALLEY STYLE WELCOME FOR INAUGURAL PORTLAND-SUN NONSTOP FLIGHT!

The first nonstop Alaska Airlines flight from Portland touched down smoothly at SUN on Saturday December 17 and the plane full of passengers were welcomed in true Sun Valley style.  The red ribbon was cut, local elected officials (including Sun Valley Mayor Peter Hendricks and Blaine County Commissioner Jacob Greenberg and their wives), FSVA board members and others were there to hand out Welcome Bags filled with a items donated by local businesses, the Wood River High School Colla Voce singers caroled, and cake, cookies and champagne were consumed by happy passengers.

This is the 3rd nonstop flight to Sun Valley secured by Fly Sun Valley and its partners - Sun Valley Resort and Friedman Memorial Airport (SUN) - in just 3 years. Now that's progress!

THANKS TO RETIRING FSVA BOARD MEMBER JACK SIBBACH
Last month Jack retired from long and successful career as Director of Marketing & PR at Sun Valley Resort, as well as from his long tenure of service on the Fly Sun Valley Alliance Board of Directors, where he most recently held the position as Vice-President.  We wanted to recognize and thank him for his tremendously impactful leadership and expertise in helping guide our community's air service development efforts for well over 30 years. Jack has been a very instrumental part of our community's success with air service and marketing and we know we wouldn't be where we are today without his active involvement and passionate commitment. THANK YOU JACK!

WHAT SUN AIR TRAVELERS ARE SAYING....

"I have been in the commercial real estate business for the past 28 years, experiencing, through our tenants, the ebbs and flows of our business cycles and local economy. In my opinion, the implementation of the Local Option Tax to improve air service, and Fly Sun Valley Alliance's tremendously successful use of those funds to expand air service and marketing to SUN, has been the single most impactful "economic development" initiative generated within our community over the past decade. The added flights make it easier for us to leave, our children to get home, as well as improve our visitor numbers, and their experience!   Hopefully, the snowball's just beginning to roll down hill and pick up steam! Thanks FSVA!"

MTN RIDES NEW "RIDE&FLY" AIRPORT SERVICE
This new "Ride & FLY" route connects Friedman Airport (SUN) with downtown Hailey, downtown Ketchum and Sun Valley Resort Village. It will run through March 26, in correspondence with flight times; however, late night and early morning flights cannot be accommodated during the first year.  It will stop at only a couple of stops per town and would be primarily for airport travelers, but it would also help Valley Route capacity and connectivity.  It would connect to almost all flights except the earliest departure (7:00am) and the latest arrival (10:55pm). The schedule is designed to arrive 90 minutes prior to scheduled flight departures and depart 30 minutes after scheduled flight arrival times. The one-way cash fare will be $12.00 to/from Ketchum-Sun Valley; $4 to/from Hailey. Details at www.mountainrides.org
