The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
As fitting with our theme, we will be reading and discussing the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar this month! Since this is a very common book, we are hoping many of our little learners have access to this book at home. In order to extend your child's learning outside of the classroom, here are some ideas for you all to try at home using this book!

Color Recognition:
This book is FILLED WITH COLORS! Point to all the colors you can find in the book and help your little learner identify them!

Healthy Eating: There are many unhealthy option talked about in this book so when there are fruits and vegetables being shown that the caterpillar are eating this is a great time to discuss healthier options!

Counting: As you read the book, count aloud with your little learner to reinforce their counting skills!

Extend the Activity: Follow the link below to this super fun and easy activity that goes along with this book! Use blue and green (or any color you have!) paint to make hand prints on a piece of paper. Then use red and black paint to finish up the caterpillars face! Your little learner will love using their hands to make their very own hungry caterpillar!

Five Green and Speckled Frogs

Some of you may have heard us singing the song "Five Green and Speckled Frogs" in previous classes, but since it goes hand-in-hand with our theme, we are highlighting it this month! This song is most beneficial to your little learner when you hold up five fingers and help them to count backward as the song goes on. This is great for reinforcing their skill to count backward and their finger dexterity. Oh yeah AND they love it!!!  Follow the link below to hear the song and watch a video that goes along with it.

Spring Gardening!

Did you know that having your child garden with you can be beneficial to them?! Your child learns so much through their senses: sight, touch, smell, taste, and sound. All of these senses can be highlighted while gardening and it can give you an extra opportunity to bond with your little one! So, this spring, invite your children into your garden with you to expand their horizons and their knowledge! Follow the link below for more information.
