2017 is slated to be an impressive and rewarding year for the Company!

We start the new year in New York City at  the APAP|NYC 2017 Conference, during which the Company presents a showcase with Liz Gerring Dance on Saturday, January 7. After APAP, we switch gears and welcome dancers to our annual week-long Winter Intensive, led this year by TBDC Alums Iréne Hultman, Laurel Jenkins and Stacy Matthew Spence. Even before 2016 came to a close, the Winter Intensive was already at maximum capacity.

The Company's education activities are truly bustling throughout the U.S. and abroad this month. North of New York City, Tara Lorenzen continues our partnership with Bard College, working on material from Foray Forêt (1990), which their students will perform in April.
And down south in Hartsville, South Carolina,  Abigail Yager leads a Set and Reset (1983) project at Coker College

In Europe, Co-Associate Artistic Director  Diane Madden will spend a week in Berlin, Germany teaching Sasha Waltz & Guests and
K athleen Fisher begins a 5-week teaching residency at Performing Arts Research and Training Studios (P.A.R.T.S.) in Brussels, Belgium.  Now, more than ever, dancers seek out TBDC's education programs for unparalleled study of Trisha's work.

features a performance of Trisha's pivotal work Accumulation (1971) danced by Leah Morrison, and a screening of Dans les pas de Trisha Brownby acclaimed filmmaker Marie-Hélène Rebois. The film documents TBDC alum Lisa Kraus and Co-Associate Artistic Director Carolyn Lucas as they set Glacial Decoy (1979) on the dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet The Company will also perform You Can See Us (1995) at Berlin's KW Institute for Contemporary Art.

In London, England, TBDC performs at the Tate Modern, in association with the exhibition, Robert Rauschenberg, now underway until April 2017. The exhibition includes the digital slide projection set of Glacial Decoy (1979) as well as video performances of the piece and live performances of Set and Reset (1983).

We wrap up January with performances in  A Night of Philosophy and Ideas , an all-night marathon event at Brooklyn's Central Library , January 28-29.

TBDC also congratulates dancer  Marc Crousillat on being named by  Dance Magazine as one of the "25 to Watch"   this year!

Best wishes,

SET AND RESET AT THE  TATE MODERN

Set and Reset (1983) © Ikegami Naoya / Saitama Arts Theater / Saitama Arts Foundation
Trisha Brown Dance Company is pleased to announce that as part of the exhibition, Robert Rauschenberg, the Tate Modern will present our upcoming performances of  Set and Reset  (1983)  in London, England on January 27 and 28, 2017.

The fluid quality of the movement in this work, juxtaposed with the unpredictable geometric style has become the hallmark of Brown's choreography. Performed to a driving score by Laurie Anderson, the exploration of visibility and invisibility is reflected in the translucent costumes and set by Robert Rauschenberg.

In the week leading up to the performances,  Rauschenberg's set  Elastic Carrier (Shiner)  will be on display to the public. You can see this for free during gallery opening hours January 24-28, 2017.

See the Tate's website for more information, including exhibition times and admission fees.
