Leaders nominated for Chamber board
An elected Board of Directors governs the work of the Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce. The Board meets monthly  to act on policy recommendations made by Chamber committees and staff, reviews current initiatives, oversees and directs the financial standing of the organization and establishes and guides the strategic direction of the organization.
 
The Chamber's Nomination Committee has identified three (3) individuals to serve on the Chamber's Board of Directors for three-year terms beginning in 2017. Nominees for these terms include:
  • Dr. Gustavo Balderas, Superintendent, Eugene School District 4J
  • Mr. Casey Barrett, General Manager, 5th Street Public Market
  • Mr. Trace P. Skopil CPA, Partner, Moss Adams LLP
These community leaders will join the following elected members of the Board of Directors:
  • Sarah Bennett, Principal, Bennett Management Company/ Downtown Athletic Club
  • Chris Boone, President, Boone Insurance Associates
  • Cheryl Boyum, CEO, Cascade Health Solutions
  • Cale Bruckner, President, Concentric Sky
  • Nigel Francisco, CFO, Ninkasi Brewing Company
  • Mandy Jones, CEO, Oregon Community Credit Union
  • Jason Lafferty, General Manager, SnoTemp Cold Storage
  • Scott Lindstrom, Exec. Vice President, Jerry's Home Improvement Center
  • Jamie Moffitt, VP of FIN/Admin & CFO, University of Oregon
  • Ralph Parshall, General Manager, Mercedes Benz of Eugene
  • Thomas Pettus-Czar, Owner, The Barn Light

Any 30 Chamber members in good standing may make additional nominations for new Board members by submitting the name(s) of the nominee(s) to Board of Directors c/o the Eugene Chamber, 1401 Willamette before January 23. If no additional nominees are made, the slate of new Board members is declared elected.

Last chance! Our annual Celebration of Business and annual meeting is next Tuesday.  Please join us to highlight the achievements of 2016 and outline the Chamber's plans for the year ahead. We will also introduce the new officers serving on the board of directors, honor City Manager Jon Ruiz with the 2016 First Citizen Award and announce our high school Future First Citizen winner.

Save the date!

The two-year, $19 million renovation of the Eugene airport is complete and you are invited to take a peek at our February Business After Hours event.

The project included relocating passenger screening, a new escalator to the gate area and two new baggage carousels along with a separate renovation of the food concession areas as the airport hopes to surpass 1 million passengers this year.  Equally exciting: the airport has added two new routes expanding Eugene's business reach in key markets and offer hundreds of additional connections for travelers. Delta is now offering service to Seattle and American Airlines begins service to Phoenix in June.

This session is ideal for businesses who have recently joined the Chamber, members who want to learn more, and employees of existing members.  We will offer an overview of our mission related work and  Chamber programs so you can find the right opportunities to leverage your membership and meet your business goals.  A brief networking opportunity with the other guests will show you the varied reasons members join the Eugene Chamber, and provide an illustration of the larger community of Chamber membership.
