Upon arriving in Ithaca thirty-seven years ago, Lynnette Scofield never imagined that she would still be here in 2015 and loving the community even more than on the day she arrived.
A long and successful career with New York Telephone brought Lynnette to Tompkins County. As she transitioned to local employment as Director of Volunteer Services at Tompkins Community Hospital (now Cayuga Medical Center), Lynnette's connection with local residents and organizations grew.
In 1998, this varied and rich career brought Lynnette to a new undertaking with the purchase of the Osborn house at the corner of Aurora and Buffalo Streets. Four months of construction transformed the Osborn home to the beautiful and award winning William Henry Miller Inn.
Among its many accolades and awards, The Inn has been recognized for its historical property renovation and selected as Best B&B in Ithaca, NY. The Inn also received membership in Select Registry, a group of 450 North American Inns who undergo a rigorous membership evaluation and ongoing inspection. In 2012, Lynnette was named the Select Registry Innkeeper of the Year.
Through all of this, Lynnette has maintained and grown her community connections. She serves as Board Member of the Strategic Tourism Planning Board of Tompkins County; The Tompkins Public Library Foundation, and FoodNet/Meals on Wheels.
Lynnette is a founding member of AIHP (Association of Independent Hospitality Professionals) and is one of Eight Broads in the Kitchen-a group of Innkeepers from across the country, who teach, write and have just published their first cookbook.
In 2012-13, Lynnette co-chaired the United Way Community Campaign and is delighted to again head the campaign, this time serving as the sole Chair.
"James Brown says 'Good things happen when we Live United'. I could not be more proud to help make those good things happen"
