Associate Rector Search Process Update

Dear St. Peter's Parish Family:

It is a great pleasure to announce that The Reverend Jacob Pierce has accepted my appointment to serve as the next Associate Rector at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, beginning Wednesday, January 25, 2017. Since July 2015, Father Jacob Pierce has served as the Curate at the Church of the Holy Comforter in Charlotte.

Father Pierce is a compassionate, wise, talented, and faithful priest, whose array of current responsibilities include presiding and preaching at liturgies, youth ministry coordination, parish life programming, pastoral care, and outreach. At St. Peter's he will focus primarily on formation, congregational development, fellowship, and pastoral care.

Father Pierce grew up in the foothills of the North Carolina mountains. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. After working for Kanuga Conferences in Western North Carolina, he returned to Charlotte to help launch a new campus ministry at Johnson and Wales University and serve as the Interim Director of Youth Ministries
at the Church of the Holy Comforter.

Jacob enrolled at Virginia Theological Seminary in 2012 during which time he served at St. Margaret 's on Connecticut Avenue, St. Paul's on K Street, and All Souls Memorial in Washington, DC.

Jacob and his partner Adam Santalla are excited to join the St. Peter's Parish family and delve into all that comes with our vibrant mission, ministry, and vision. His first Sunday will be January 29 when opportunities will be offered to welcome him during Holy Chow breakfast or Coffee Hour.

I wish to thank the members of my Associate Rector Search Advisory Circle ( Carolyn Carlburg, Sue Coonen, Phyllis Ferguson, Irma Hoffman, Des Keller, Paul Keller, Ann Luszcz, Bert Miano, Cooper Morrison, Dan Moore) and the Executive Committee (Bert Miano, Maria Long, John Hall, Dave Lavoie) for their input to my discernment and subsequent call of Jacob.

Please join me in welcoming our new Associate Rector and in thanksgiving to God from whom all blessing flows.
