CBS Chicago: Obama To Speak At Chicago Climate Summit 
   
With the Trump administration pulling the U.S. out of the Paris climate accord, and scaling back climate change work at the EPA, mayors from around the world were gathering in Chicago on Tuesday to sign a pact to protect the environment.  
 
Mayor Rahm Emanuel was hosting the two-day summit. A total of 52 mayors from 10 nations - including Emanuel - were expected to sign an agreement on finding climate change solutions.

Tampa Bay Times: Northbound Sunshine Skyway lanes to close for running event in March 
   
The Sunshine Skyway bridge will shut down on a Sunday morning in March for a running race that is expected to draw up to 7,000 participants.
 
The Armed Forces Families Foundation announced the event, dubbed the "Skyway 10k Saluting Military Families," at a news conference on Wednesday.

Tampa Bay Business Journal: St. Pete takes major step in building its new pier 
   
The St. Petersburg City Council on Thursday approved an $18 million payment to the construction manager for a new pier.
 
That payment would be the final portion of what was owed to the construction manager, Skanska, under an agreement that put a guaranteed maximum price on the work.

The Tampa Bay Black Business Investment Corp.'s (TBBBIC) CATCH small business program graduated its third cohort Nov. 27. Held at Sunken Gardens, the ceremony celebrated the progress of each graduate as they were joined by friends, family, community leaders and business owners.

The Weekly Challenger: Blazing trails: Brigadier General Carrie W. Nero   
   
From a little girl, Dr. Carrie W. Nero, Brigadier General, ANC, USAR (Ret) wanted to be in the military.
 
"I just loved everything about it," Nero said. "I loved the way they dressed, the discipline. As a youngster, it was a dream."
 
But back then, a career in the military wasn't a real option for women.
