The World Premiere of Los Bufones  

On Jan. 20-22, come see Velázquez' mesmerizing paintings of jesters and  dwarfs  at the court of Philip IV of Spain brought to musical life in a richly melodic new theatre piece, sung in Spanish with English supertitles.  

Rio del Corazon: The Magic of Tony Mares, Featuring Lola's Last Dance

Come Jan. 27-29 to a tribute to the late Ernesto Antonio "Tony" Mares that includes his play Lola's Last Dance and dramatic readings of his poetry.
Lola's Last Dance is about a retired prostitute in ABQ's Old Town who has always lived life to the fullest and whose dreams are now filled with ghosts from her past.
La Canoa: Latinos in the Public Media and the Popular Imagination 

On Jan. 21, from 2 - 4 pm, Michael A. Olivas, University of Houston law professor and native New Mexican, will talk about how the widespread and negative characterizations of Latinos have serious consequences in all areas of the public imagination and the polity. This is a free event that is open to the public.
Bank of America Free Thursday Film Series 

On Jan. 19, come see Crimen Ferpecto/The Perfect Crime, about a salesman's desire for a "perfect life" that is derailed when competition for a promotion devolves into murder, blackmail, and  surrealistic plot twists. And on Jan. 26, we have Tristana, a haunting study of a human relationship in which the power changes hands. Presented in partnership with Instituto Cervantes.
Recurring Events: Cuban Salsa, Bilingual Storytime and Colcha Community Stitch Along

Join us for Cuban Salsa dance classes every Tuesday. On Jan. 26 bring your children (infant to preschool) to bilingual storytime to hear Abuela Made/Las Empanadas que Hacía la Abuela and Jalapeño Bagels. And stitchers of all levels are welcome at our Colcha Community Stitch-Along on Jan. 20.

Palenke Soultribe is taking electronic music to new heights by combining traditional Afro-Colombian rhythms and blending them with contemporary esthetics and sounds . Listen to their music here . Baracutanga , known for arranging traditional South American rhythms in interesting ways, will open.

Come celebrate Carnaval as the NHCC and Frank Leto Musical Ventures turn the Albuquerque Journal Theatre into the set of a television dance show where you will get a chance to dance, win prizes, and maybe even become part of the show!  
Siembra, Latino Theatre Season: Solving for X: The Education Project

Working Classroom's theatre ensemble collaborates with others to create an immersive bilingual performance based on community interviews that is dedicated to bringing a face and voice to educational inequity.
