Business Person of the Year and State of the City Address
Come congratulate Brenda Oum, co-owner of Papillon Gourmet Coffee, this year's Business Person of the Year. 2017 Citizen of the Year Nomination Deadline February 10
Do you know a person who should be considered for the 2017 Citizen of the Year?
- They must be a current Lafayette resident.
- Must be someone who has given their time, money or energy to help make Lafayette a healthy community, where people will want to live, work and shop.
- Must be someone who models excellence in everything they do.
- Must be someone who brings this community together and/or makes us proud to be a member of the community.
A celebration for this honor is scheduled for Friday, March 24 at the Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa. Please send your nomination to [email protected] by Friday, February 10 before 1pm.

A workshop to empower family caregivers with the right tools for sensitive topics. Elder care expert Linda Fodrini-Johnson, MA, MFT, CMC, presents a guide to sensitive conversations that she says must take place to promote independence and quality of life as we age. She will discuss how to have the "difficult" conversations with ourselves, our children and our spouses regarding real and imagined challenges we may encounter in later years. She will tackle touch topics, including keeping or selling the family home, future health considerations and when it's time to stop driving. California Competes Tax Credit
The California Competes Tax Credit is an income tax credit available to businesses that want to locate in or stay and grow in California. There is currently $100 million available from now until 1/23/17 with another opportunity to apply for $68.3 million plus whatever hasn't been already allocated occurring from 3/6-3/27/17.
