Announcing Get Smart About Art!
Throughout the winter and spring, your child will participate in GET SMART ABOUT ART: a series of in-class, parent led workshops in which a particular artist and corresponding art style is introduced and a follow up art project is completed. Your grade level coordinators organize the workshops and each session includes a parent volunteer presenter and several parent volunteer art project assistants. Runs January - June with a culminating Art Show & Film Festival June 7, 2017 at 5:30PM. We need over 40 volunteers per grade (including those of you who love to present) to make these workshops a success so please be on the lookout for an email from your grade level liaisons closer to your grade's start date.
Get Smart About Art Leaders are:
Grade 3 Field Trip Reminder!
Grade 3 will be visiting the Harvard Museum of Natural History in Cambridge, Massachusetts on January 25th (Breen/Hanseth) and January 26th (O'Neill/Vernon). Students are encouraged to wear their East School spirit shirts or a red t-shirt/sweatshirt to assist the chaperones. Please remind your children that once they leave East School they are ambassadors for East School and for the Town of Hingham and their best behavior is expected.
Kindergarten Behind the Scenes Cafeteria Tours
Our East kitchen Manager, Megan O'Hara has kindly agreed to give each Kindergarten class a special "behind the scenes" tour of the cafeteria. The goal being to connect how the cafeteria staff is working hard to provide students with healthy lunches to fuel their day. There will be discussions about how healthy food will help you do your best in school, in sports, and to grow and stay strong. Tours will take place January 13th, 20th, and 27th at
10am.
Boosterthon Fun Run is Coming to East!
The Boosterthon Fun Run is coming to East in early February. We are seeking corporate sponsors to cover the costs of t-shirts for the kids to wear during the day of the race and thereafter. Please let us know if your business is interested in being a sponsor. If so, your business logo will be included on the backs of the kids' t-shirts. Please contact Michelle Paterniti at 617-283-1199 or at [email protected] for more details if you are interested in being a sponsor. More info on the Boosterthon Fun Run to follow in early January.
