The annual Ohio River Sweep has been scheduled for Saturday, June 17, 2017, along the shorelines of the Ohio River and many of its tributaries. Volunteers are needed for this massive event.
The Ohio River Sweep is a riverbank cleanup that extends the entire length of the Ohio River and beyond. This is the largest environmental event of its kind and encompasses six states.
"The Sweep is a great event for families and community groups. Please consider adding this event to your calendar!" said Lisa Cochran, Program Manager. Each volunteer will receive a free T-shirt.
People who want to volunteer for this event can visit the website
www.OhioRiverSweep.org for more details. Locations will be posted in early spring.
The Ohio River Sweep is sponsored by the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO) and other environmental agencies from Pennsylvania to Illinois. ORSANCO is the water pollution control agency for the Ohio River and its tributaries.
