Reflection on the 2nd Sunday of Advent

This Sunday's second reading is about Christ's coming again, "The day of the Lord," Peter calls it, but that day isn't Dec. 25. It's that other day, that second-coming-day about which Peter is concerned. He waits with great hope and anticipation for God to remake the earth into a place of perfect justice and peace. And he sets some demanding goals for the Christian community as it awaits that final day of accounting and reconciliation: strive to be at peace, without spot or blemish. Christian stewards work for peace. As we await the coming of Christmas, what can we do to promote peace in our homes, workplaces, community and world?

Children in grades K through 8 are invited to sing in the Children's Choir at St. Anne Church's  4 p.m. Children's Liturgy on Christmas Eve, Sun., Dec. 24th. Rehearsals will be held the next two Sundays:  Dec. 10th and 17th from 3 to 4  p.m. inside the church. Parents who can stay to help with supervision during practices are needed.

Attention Georgia taxpayers! Did you know you can redirect your state income tax dollars to support St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School? Contributions to the GRACE Scholars program qualify for a 100 percent tax credit on your state income taxes. Drop off your PK3-5th grader and enjoy an afternoon out! The St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School Vikings Cheerleaders are hosting a Parents' Afternoon Out - a perfect opportunity to finish shopping for Christmas presents - on Fri., Dec. 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the St. Anne-Pacelli Gym. Kids will enjoy a snack, fun with friends and games. Donations appreciated. Reservations are not required. This event is a fundraiser for the Vikings Cheerleading Squads.
