Shared Core Values Week Going Strong in DPS
It's Shared Core Values Week -- an opportunity for all of Team DPS to focus on one of our values each day of the week. Values Week was off to a great start Monday, when teammates lived our value of Equity during the MLK Day Marade -- even in the snowy, freezing weather.

"Equity is the most important value for me," said Alejandrina Barajas, a teacher at Noel Community Arts School, who attended the marade. "Our students deserve the support they need to achieve their dreams in education and society."

Shared Core Values Week continues, with today's focus on Accountability and a look at Students First and Fun on Friday. There's still time to incorporate the values into your week. Click here for a collection of resources, and share your stories on social media using the hashtags #teamDPS, #DPSvalues and #StudentsFirst.
Top 5: New Year's Resolutions
We recently asked you to share your New Year's resolutions, and we were so impressed with the goals you've set for 2017! Congratulations to Rhonda Albers at Manual High School, this week's giveaway winner (and good luck on your first sprint triathlon)!
  1. "As I will be turning 55 this year, I decided to take Sammy Hagar's 'I Can't Drive 55!' as my theme song. I have also decided to train for my first sprint triathlon, the Komen women's Tri for the Cure that is held in August. I have a 22-week training plan, which gives me plenty of time, and I have made it public on my social media to keep me accountable. I already have a few people who have decided they will join me. This resolution is another way to keep me accountable." - Rhonda Albers, Manual High School
  2. "My resolution is to work more on listening to others rather than just hearing them. Everyone has a voice and is coming from somewhere, and, in continued efforts to build trust and relationships with staff, students and others, I believe listening to their voices is key to understanding their stories." - Michelle Wright, Principal at Florence Crittenton High School
  3. "My New Year's resolution is to further my goals -- I am going to write a book!" - Jamie Castillo, Centennial Elementary School
  4. "I will take the risk to have uncomfortable, poorly-articulated, awkward but respectful conversations with people who are different from me -- cultural background, political leaning, education level, etc. -- about topics we disagree on. I will seek out perspectives that are different from my own. Mostly, I will listen and create opportunities for others to be heard." - Catherine Forington, Polaris at Ebert
