so we don't miss ourselves
Saluda grass

As I finished a run on Tuesday morning, in the foggy hills of Saluda, I was dazzled by a field of tall grasses draping by the weight of water droplets from their fingers.
I paused and gazed at these tiny but full spheres in wonder, noticing how much I could see in them. Each one reflected the scene around it, only in mirror. The pale gray sky at the bottom, and the golden earth at the top. Ah! Yes! And in that moment, the universe showed herself to me again.
Water. "We are all water", I said out loud, as I lifted my fingertip to the bottom of one drop. It slipped off it's seat and onto my skin, "yet, we don't realize it because of the barriers that divide us, like my skin".
This piece of grass was holding ME, showing me myself.

The water drop reflects all that birthed it.
We are the water, not the reflections.

Please note the following edits to specific class dates
this month:

Emily will be taking a much-deserved break for a few days. These are the ONLY classes affected. All else will run as normal!
Friday Jan 13, 10:00 Chair Yoga will be a Balancing Class, subbed by Kathleen Sweeney
Friday Jan 13, 11:15 Gentle Yoga will be subbed by Kathleen Sweeney. Please attend and provide feedback!
Sunday Jan 15, 11:15 Yoga Flow will be subbed by Lyn
Monday Jan 16, 10:00 Chair Yoga will be canceled
Monday Jan 16, 11:15 Functional Movement will be canceled

Paul's Journey Work with the Drum will shrink to 2 Thursdays/month to try to condense attendance. This month they will be January 12th and 26th. This is potent work, so weekly may be more than most want. Paul will not be hosting Sunday sessions this month.

Jenne's Saturday 10:15 Intermediate Yoga class will be canceled on January 28th because Jenne is leading a one day Stillness and Mindfulness retreat in Black Mountain that day (and I am going!). If you would like more information about her retreat, click here.

B.O.D.Y. Mapping begins this week with Emily (Thursdays at 10am)

5 Rhythms Returns January 15th

This is a powerful, fun, somatic way to work through your joys and blocks without much thinking! No experience necessary, but bring your water bottle because it gets sweaty.

12:45-2:45pm,  $15 per person

Signing up for a new plan

Dear friends,
There have been questions, of course, and confusion about the change over into new membership plans. I want to give a very simple outline for those of you still making the transition.

1. You are not required to select a new plan until your old monthly membership bill date. It will not cancel automatically, but you can cancel it from home by signing into your account, and on the home screen click on Shift Monthly Membership. The next screen that opens has a red "Cancel" button you can push to cancel that membership. This should be done before your next bill cycle. I cannot stop that membership from working until everyone has made the transition.

2. If you select a new plan and purchase it from home before your other membership meets it's bill date, you will be double charged. HOWEVER, if you email me, I can select the start date of your new plan, to make a seamless transition. If you are selecting a monthly plan, your first payment will pro-rate to the first of the month, then renew on the 1st of February.

3. Having a card stored in your account makes all transactions easier, even if you are just paying as you go, which you can do from home!

4. Be patient with me. :) If we miss canceling your old membership and it bills again, I can refund the payment. I am excited to have everyone's bill dates align, so that nothing slips through the cracks for you or me!

5. I have adjusted the 8 class monthly and 12 class monthly plans to allow up to 2 unused classes per month to roll over to the next month. So, if you only make it to 6 of your 8 in January, in February, you'll have 10 classes available to you! But remember, only 2 unused classes roll over each month!

6. I will continue to offer discounts, but I may make getting them a little fun challenge, like completing 5 home practices, writing a half page essay on a topic, or inviting a new student to class. Keep your eyes open!

Our 1,000 Paper Crane Event was a HUGE success!

We folded roughly 400 cranes that day, which is fantastic!

The most miraculous sight was watching strangers lean over and help each other figure out how to fold. There was laughter, great music, a strong learning curve and peace. Thank you to all who came out to fold.

There are still cranes to be folded, and one faithful student is stringing all we have made so far, so if you want to grab some paper and bring cranes back, you are invited!
Click on the photo above to check it out or pick up a copy! Aerial classes resume January 18th and are now even more available to the average person with more restorative and stretching postures. It is still advised to sign up ahead of time, as there are a limited number of slings. Slings will be for sale soon.

Free Concert this Friday

Kevin Spears was the talented (and world touring) kalimba player who joined our New Years Day event last Sunday.

He is hosting a concert this Friday at 7:30pm in Saluda at the tiny yoga studio across from the Green River Bar-b-que on 176.  Ooh, you will love it.
