FIRST SUNDAY BREAKFAST BETWEEN SERVICES

Followed by King Cake after late service

We postponed our FIrst Sunday Breakfast of 2017 for one week so you could enjoy New Years! Now be with us this Sunday, January 8 between services for a delicious breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage and bacon served up with some good fellowship!

Following the 10:30 am service please join us in the Undercroft to enjoy a piece of King Cake to celebrate the visit of the Magi to the Christ Child.

MITTEN TREE

Giving Tree for CSL now a Mitten Tree

This Sunday is our last day to collect clothing for the "Mitten Tree".

Our collection will be taken to the Community Services League next week to provide for those needing hats, mittens and gloves to protect from the winter weather. Many, many thanks to all who contributed! Someone else will smile because of you!

FIRST COMMUNION TEACHING

For Youngsters Ready to Receive Communion

Fr. David will hold a 30 minute class to prepare our youngsters to receive communion on Sunday, January 8 and Sunday, January 29. This will be held in the front of the church immediately following the first service at 9:00 am each day. Only one session is necessary, so pick either date.

Baptism is the entrance rite for Christians of ALL ages and communion is at the discretion of the parents, Children may receive when they have a good understanding of what communion truly means. Please contact Fr. David to let him know which day will work for your family. Fr. David is also available to meet with individual families at a different time if these dates are not possible.

Who helped with our Christmas celebrations

Many, many thanks to all who helped decorate the church, learn and perform beautiful music, prepare food and cookies, put up banners, help the outreach ministries and otherwise offered prayers for the beauty that was had as part of Resurrection parish's Christmas celebrations

We all know it takes a lot of behind the scenes work to provide for our beautiful liturgy, music and festivities during the holidays. Above and beyond the work that goes into family preparations, many also committed to making our church the BEST for Christmas! From Thanksgiving celebrations through New Years it has been just wonderful! THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH!!!

I love words, as any minister should, and "epiphany" is a favorite word of mine. In a Christian sense, it names a great January liturgical feast -- namely the Scripture story about three mysterious men bearing gifts, appearing from the East and looking for the baby Jesus to worship him. It arrives on the Twelfth Day of Christmas, and it culminates our Christmas celebrations. The church uses it as the occasion to remind us that Christ came for all.

How many epiphanies do we really experience in life? January brings with it a cascade of New Year's resolutions. How about just resolving to keep our eyes open for the next epiphany God sends? Let us live this year awakening each day to ask God for the courage to be open to continuing revelation, epiphanies great and small that God offers in our lives.
